Default Would it be disrespectful to let their kids dress up as God for an event?

I remember at way back when I was in 1st grade at school, it was Bible Character day were everyone dressed as a character from the Bible, and leave it to ME to be daring and different... I wanted to dress as God HIMSELF, but my parents wouldn't let me b/c they thought that would be going too far and maybe be deemed as a little disrespectful.

I know there are a lot of Christians here, so what do you think about that? Would you let your kid dress as God for an event like that?

There were SEVERAL ppl dressed as Jesus and that was deemed as ok.

What do you mean? Dress up as Jesus? We have an idea how Jesus looked but how would anyone dress up like God?As God is three persons in one (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) how would one dress?

Well when I was little I, as well as many, had their own idea of how God might look.

I was just going to wear a white robe and a an orangy crown head-piece type thing, I mean that was MY idea how he looked when I was a kid.

And also I was NOT one of these ppl who believed God, Jesus and Holy Spirit were all the same being, I believed they were 3 distinct seperate beings. I know there is a lot of disagreement on that.

You may not know exactly how someone looks but you can still dress as a symbolic symbol of how you think they look to represent them.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Kids do have their own way of seeing things! I guess at a young age I pictured God the Father as an old man with a long white beard. Disrespectful? I don't think so if it is not done as a joke . My parents would have never have let me dress up as "God". To them it would have been disrespectful.Believing in The Trinity as I do it would have been impossible to dress up as God.

By the way, I can see where this topic could start trouble. (Religion or politics usually does!) I hope this topic doesn't doesn't turn into an argumentative subject about God/The Trinity. Please people let's not get into that!

When I was little I always had my own vision as to what God looked like. I basically saw him looking just like Jesus but with SHORTER hair, and for some reason wearing a round orangish hat with a dark "something like round knob or button" on top. I may put a pic of how I saw him.

When I was little I always pictured him looking like George Burns.

People would have an idea on Michelangelo's ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

You could have worn a George Burns mask.

I apparently see God as Morgan Freeman (I've been watching "Bruce Almighty" a lot).
