Nell is about to graduate from night school, and she decides to help her exhausted friend with his book report. He has multiple jobs, a wife and six kids. The guy is an A student, but he is too sleepy and physically wiped out to write his own report. Out of the goodness of her heart and with well intentions, Nell writes the guy's report. And what is her thanks? When the guy gets his diploma, he confesses that he didn't write the report himself. Fine. But he goes on to tattle that Nell did his work for him. I think it was pretty rotten that he sold Nell out. He didn't have to drag her down with him. What a skunk! And then the principal punishes both of them!
I'm just glad it all worked out in the end with Nell getting her diploma. I felt bad for her. Her heart was in the right place.

I remember that. If I am not mistaken, both Nell and the man ended up getting their diplomas.

Yes, the sleepy guy ended up getting his diploma after the principal gave him a make-up oral exam. And the guy's wife told him that she was pregnant again.
