Did anyone like them? I'm watching them in season 2 and it just doesn't seem funny unlike the high school years. Lost the spark imo.
I do like the actor who played Lt. Merriweather. He was excellent in the role. |

I prefer the high school and (later) college episodes, definitely.

You will enjoy seeing Bill Schallert as one of their college profs beginning in Season 3, at S. Peter Pryor Junior College. Jean Byron becomes a regular too!
Here's the description of Season 3, Ep. 1 from IMDb: Dobie and Maynard are honorably discharged from the Army and immediately join Zelda in enrolling at S. Peter Pryor Junior College, where their old high school teacher Mr. Pomfritt is now a professor. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0641762/?ref_=tt_ep_pr |

Thank the Lord the army episodes are finished. It put me to sleep & was a snorefest. Though I'm sure there was a certain reality to the show with teens enlisting after graduating high school. Good promo for joining

I think the characters on this show worked best in a school setting wether it was high school or college.

There are a few Army episodes I enjoy, but most of them lack the spark of the other episodes. I prefer the college ones in season 3 myself.

I'm in the middle of watching the Junior College eps in season 3 and it's much more fast paced and lots going on vs the sleeper army eps. |

I hope you don't mind my stepping in, but there were some memorable Season 4 eps I wanted to rate (**** maximum), although I should caution I'm due to watch these again to reassess them:
4: 2 *** Thalia is back! Notable regardless of what one thinks of the character 4: 4 * I found this Amazon episode to be almost unwatchable 4:10 *** A memorable Dr. Burkhart ep that takes place in the classroom 4:21 ** Not only does Bob Denver appear in drag, but also sans facial hair...! 4:22 *** Very interesting Zelda episode 4:28 ** Maynard's sleepwalking 4:34 *** Look out: Dr. Burkhart gets a beauty makeover! A must for fans of Jean Byron. |

That amazon episode is BAD. Almost like a cartoon. Just ridiculous, although I should be honest and admit I haven't watched it on the DVD set. I haven't seen it in years. I should give it a fair shot. 4.22 Thanks for the Memory is interesting. It is a complete remake of season 1.22 Love is a Fallacy. They just replace Thalia with Zelda in this one. What I don't like about it is that at the end, Zelda and Dobie decide they don't really love each other and should not be together. Of course, they obviously changed their minds at some point. I barely remember the sleepwalking episode. Another one I need to rewatch. 4.34 Beauty is Only Kin Deep is cute. I thought it was odd that they made Dr. Burkhart homely and plain for this episode when she never was before, just so they could do a makeover. LOL |

WOW I just finished my season 3 DVDs a few days ago when I read this post. I plan to start season 4 today. I'll watch some season 4 eps and give you my thoughts soon. I read somewhere online that this was a weak season.
