19 kids in Beaver's class. My sister's a teacher, and she complains about having 35.

Yes, Miss Landers was lucky to have this class ratio. The halls were never crowded at Mayfield High or Grant Avenue Grammer School because....it's TV! I really wonder who these other kids are in Miss Landers 5th grade class. Were they kids of studio employees? It would make sense if they were. Maybe someday Jerry Mathers or Stephen Talbot will tell us.

It was probably a pretty random mix. Family of the actors shouldn't be ruled out either -- for example, on Hazel, Don DeFore's son Ron appeared in a playground scene, and youngest members of the extended Nelson Family popped up on Ozzie & Harriet. So it's fun to speculate as to whether the LITB pupils had strong connections to the cast, if any.

Glad you brought up this episode,
There are approximately three guest stars in the end credits for this episode, but only the photographer and I think that one girl, who plays Penny Woods when she says, "The boys won't stand with us." or something like that actually speaks as a guest star. I think the other kids in Beaver's and Wally's classes throughout the series could have been extras needed for scenes. Jack |
