Thumbs up

Well they kinda rhyme, but not exacly. We read about this in Lit. class and it's called slang rhyme. Emily Dickinson was the first person to use "slang rhyme," and well no one liked it in her day. But it is a rhyme!

Well it really depends how you pronounce the word "orange". I know when I say it it sounds more like "oringe", in which case it does rhyme with "doorhinge". However if you pronounce it properly then the 2 words do not rhyme.

Actually there are right and wrong pronounciations. With some words it's pretty widely accepted that there are different ways of pronouncing them. Like "aluminium" for example - the Americans say it with 4 syllables, in the UK we say it with 5 syllables. ("a-lum-in-um" as opposed to "al-lu-min-i-um") Same with "tomato" - you guys say it different to us.
But other words there are clear misproununciations. For example, if you said " computer" with the emphasis on the last syllable instead of the 2nd one then you'd clearly be pronouncing it wrong.
That's just one example. I don't really want to get into a huge debate about pronounciation on a message board cos it's kinda hard to make your point when you're typing the words instead of actually saying them.

They don't rhyme. Doorhinge and hoorange yes. Orange and Dooringe I guess, but orange and doorhinge? No. The H in doorhinge stops them from rhyming.
