Default The island is not sinking

The Professor wasn't very smart in the episode about the island sinking. Sure, his measuring stick was being covered with water more each day, but wouldn't he have looked around and realized that the water's in the same place in relation to everything else that is always was?

You'd think he'd use some other way of double-checking rather than just using that stick as a guide. Is the water covering more sand/trees/bushes than it was previously, or is it in the same place?

You would also think the professor would notice that the stick was in a different spot everyday!! (GIlligan was moving it deeper and deeper into the water to catch bigger lobsters)

All very true -- and of course, if other measurement methods were used, then there's no episode of the sort!

Sometimes professors' brains don't work like other people's -- for example, I knew a brilliant math professor that made big mistakes in making change, when volunteering to cashier at an event.

Darn good point!
