I've just started watching this show actually and I like it, but I don't get WHY Barbara Jean is sooo obsessed with Reba liking her and why she wants to be the center of Reba's life. It's almost to the point it's WEIRD. It's like she has a crush on her or something.
I even remember seeing one episode where Reba was warming up to BJ and Bj was saying, "So....we sorta have an abnormally close friendship now, don't we??!" like it made her HAPPY, and I was thinking, "WTF!!?" Is there some joke to that that was explained in an earlier episode? |

Yes Barbara Jean and Reba's friendship was not realistic nor was Barbara Jean's wanting to be up in Reba's family's faces.
But it was a nice show. |

Barbara Jean is a nutcase. She doesn't realize how much Reba has been hurt by her.

I think it is more a guilt thing. She feels bad that she was half the reason for Reba's divorce so she puts it in her mind that her and Reba have to be best friends.

"I want to be you!"
I'd say it's partially a guilt thing and partially because she really does admire her. She's also not very good when it comes to socializing or making friends. |

I agree that it's partly her feeling guilty for what she's done to Reba so she thinks she has to be friends with her. Also, she seems to really admire her, like when she says, "Oh I want to be you so bad!". She just really admires her, looks up to her, and wants to be like her and she's just wanting to really be friends with her cause of that too, but she's just being really weird and annoying about it.

That's just BJ's character, she wants to be liked by people and knows she wronged Reba

To me, Barbra Jean's frame of mind is what makes the show as special as it is. In real life a person in her position doesn't try to make up for all that they are guilty of. They just do whatever they want and not even try to clean up whatever mess is left behind.
God bless you always!!! Holly P.S. I love the season two episode when Barbra Jean helps with the kids and the house keeping while Reba first started working for Dr. Fisher. I love when the two ladies start talking about Brock and he comes in not knowing that they are laughing at him.
