Default Suzanne Somers in Opening Credits

Just wondering why, long after Jenilee Harrison joined the show, was Suzanne Somers still in the opening credits when she was no longer part of the show? Perhaps negotiations with her were still ongoing and there was the hope of her return?

She was still a part of the show but her role was now diminished to the tag ends of each episode as the producers wanted to teach Suzanne a lesson, so essentially she's still in season 5 just not all of her.

And weird now too watching these long forgotten tag end scenes on DVD because all them were completely removed when shown in syndication in the 80's

But I'm just surprised that ABC didn't edited Suzanne out once it was confirmed she wasn't coming back to the show.

And the Tags scenes were only shown on cable which was a big surprise to me when I started watching TC on Nick@Nite in 2002 because I had never seen them before because

1. The DVD's were not out yet

2. I was too young to watch the show on ABC

She was under contract still and I guess the producers didn't want any more publicity.

Well here's something interesting because when my dad let me have my own VCR in 1984 I would record every single episode in syndication not knowing of course they were edited.

And when Nick@Nite started showing them up in 2002 the episodes might've had a few of the Chrissy tags added but the episodes were still edited albeit slightly different than the syndicated ones.

Which means yes there were two sets of all 172 episodes both edited different at various runs, weird.

And also the season 7 episode "Going To Pot" I guess because of the pot reference was never shown in the Nick@Nite airings.

Yup that's true. And even though the eps were edited on Nick@Nite, they did show all the tags for the 171 eps aired.

Some other negatives about TC on Nick@nite

1. They edited Jack's dance scene in the ep "Up in the Air" very badly

2. They skipped Going to Pot

3. They never aired the one Phone Tag scene with Jack and Chrissy

Well, I always thought that it was weird as well that Suzanne's profile pics were aired in the opening but she was never there and her cousin was. I read in the director's guide to primetime shows that she was still on the show but her airtime was limited to phone calls that she would make to her friends while she was in Fresno, CA. So, I was intrigued but could not find any eps where she was there but I knew she was there and provided some closure for me. On NAN in the year 2000, I had access to watch some of those tag scenes and liked them. Now, I have that season downloaded on computer and have access to them whenever I want.

Yeah we can laugh at 2003 now that we don't have to depend on N@n to show us the tag scenes

I think that since the cast was supposed to remain the same as the second half of the fourth season, they didn't reshoot the opening credits. 1980 was also the year of the actor's strike, so they were literally shooting episodes then airing them within a couple of weeks from shooting them. Plus her situation was only "temporary" and there was a possibility she would come back at some point that season, but that didn't happen of course.
