Such a great opening
I always loved the way this show started. Barney stopping on his way into the office when a beat cop says hello and he seems genuinely happy to do so. It really shows why he was so respected in the squad room; he had not forgotten where he came from.

Oh yeah- I love Barney Miller! I had heard of it and never actually seen it until I started watching it via the DVD releases of the seasons- and I just fell in love with the show. Great theme song and opening credits and just a funny laugh riot throughout each episode! And of course, with a show that rarely has any scenes outside of the police station offices, the comedy writing really needs to be top notch and you know the character relationship is big too- and this show does a wonderful job on both.

That opening credits sequence was a brilliant way of intoducing to what the character of Barney Miller is all about!
