Exclamation Suzanne Pleshette

I have been a loyal fan of Suzanne Pleshette for years now since I was a child. I always found her to be a beautiful woman and a very talented one too. I love her voice. I love the chemistry between both her and Bob Newhart. I believe that Emily and Bob would have made wonderful parents. I have even dreamed about Bob and Emily being my parents. But I have to say my parents are great and I would never replace them. I was born on June 13, 1972 in Houston Texas. I am now 41 years old. I graduated high school in 1991.

I have a book about the Bob Newhart Show, and many of the actors and actresses go out of their way to say how nice Suzanne was to them, how she made them feel so welcome as opposed to how it could be on other sets.

Not surprising to hear about such a beautiful and classy lady!

I've heard Suzanne described as the "mommy" of TBNS set, which doesn't surprise me one iota. Plus, of course, she was part of one of the best moments in TV history:

I agreed that she would have been a great mother. Has Bob Newhart ever played a father? I know on this show and Newhart he didn't.

Suzanne had great style! I wish I had some of her outfits from when she was in the movies or on The Bob Newhart Show.

I liked that The Bob Newhart Show showed that a couple could be happy and loving without children. They also didn't rag on each other. On sitcoms, the children (unless they are the focus of the show) get pushed in the background anyway.

On Seth Macfarlanes' shows, Family Guy and American Dad, it's the daughter is pushed in the background. If Seth doesn't know how to write for teen girls than why did he create them? It wastes the time and talent of the female actresses. There are still sitcoms which use all the characters including kids.

From what I understand, she and her longtime husband, Tom Gallagher, tried to have kids but were unsuccessful. At one point, she had a miscarriage. Of course, years later she became a stepmom to Tom Poston's kids.

In one -- and only one -- episode of The Bob Newhart Show Suzanne Pleshette appeared with a very different and dramatic hair color. It was her usual short dark hair but the front was dyed platinum blonde or white. There was never any mention of the change in the show and it was gone in the next episode.

Does anyone else remember this and know why her hair was different?

Thanks.

Brian

This clip will make you realize she was way out of Bob's league! They probably made her cut her hair in the early years of the show so her being married to Bob wouldn't look TOO unrealistic.
