Default What is up with the quality for the wedding episode tonight?????

Up until tonight, all the eps had very good quality and very clear. Tonight's episode looks like a home made movie. I don't see the same crisp quality that all the other episodes had

Very Odd

I thought the video quality was off too. Maybe they're using a print that's degraded from past use -- as it's key to the series and may have been run additionally (along with Part 2). We'll have to see if someone who owns the Season 1 set can assess its quality on there.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that

In all seriousness I was actually expecting the 2-part wedding ep to be a dull, ancient transfer of the worst quality.

I don't own the S1 DVD but have seen screenshots and read about the dreadful quality on 2/3 of the episodes - all of which were from the old syndication masters. That must be the same source for this 2-parter. When FOX (or whomever they hired) recently did the new transfers of the network masters then the full unedited 1-hour version is most likely what was used. Since MeTV only has a half-hour slot for Rhoda, they probably had no choice but air the crappy old one that was edited into 2 parts. I fully expect the rest of the series to be aired in the same high-quality as the first 7 episodes. Ironically it appears to be one of the few top-notch unedited episodes on the S1 DVD.

It would have been cool if MeTV had given Rhoda a one-hour slot that evening and they aired the full-length version, then air 2 episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show the next day (taking up Rhoda's slot) so neither show would have skipped a beat. I understand they don't want to mess with the weekly schedule and rightfully so, but they could have made a real coup out of it by heavily promoting it as "being aired in it's entirety for the first time in decades" much like they did with The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour last summer.

I guess that scene in the closing credits with Rhoda running down a manhattan street is part of the unedited version.

I meant to catch MeTV's airing of the wedding episode, but I forgot. From what I understand, only the hourlong version was remastered... not the two-part version. That said, was the music intact? The version on the DVD and on Nick-at-Nite replaced the accordionist's "Lady of Spain" with a generic song.

The scene with Rhoda running down a crowded Manhattan street in the closing credits is something I never seen on any version of the wedding ep. Must only be shown on the CBS version
