James Franco To Guest-Star on "The Mindy Project"

There's a new doctor in town!

James Franco will guest-star on the upcoming sophomore season of "The Mindy Project" for at least two episodes, Fox announced Tuesday.

Franco will play Dr. Paul Leotard, the replacement doctor for Mindy (Mindy Kaling) while she's in Haiti on a volunteer mission. A former professional model, Dr. Leotard was saved by a pregnant woman when he accidentally walked off a runway at fashion week.

Following the incident, Leotard devoted his life to helping expectant mothers.

Franco will first appear in the season two premiere, which airs Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 9:30/8:30c on Fox.

James Franco checks in for the first two episodes of the Fox comedy "The Mindy Project" playing Dr. Paul Leotard, a model-turned-ob-gyn who joined the office following Mindy's (Mindy Kaling) missionary trip to Haiti at the end of last season.

"He has firmly established himself as the most popular doctor at the practice," says exec producer Jack Burditt. "So when Mindy returns and wants everything to go back to normal, he is a huge obstacle in her way."

I saw some of the James Franco roast on Comedy Central--boy, was that not funny!!!

I understand that he should not leave this show at all, but I know his nemesis character didn't do well. But I think James Franco needs to return to this show and play a better friendly role instead.
