Default ABC Family is driving me nuts!

I have just about given up watching tv anymore these days, and ABC Family is a prime example of why. I am so sick of these stations cutting down the original length of a tv show, so they can cram in more commercials (which I don't watch anyway!). Today, I was watching "Wonder Years" and noticed that they had cut the part where Kevin goes home after school and asks him mom to take him to the mall so he can warn Cutlip about the "gang" looking for him. This was only 30-40 seconds, but I guess it was another commercial for ABC Family.

Before long, the shows are going to only run 10 minutes with a brief synopsis that follows. I am sick of the black bar on the bottom (TNN), the scrunched-up credits, the pop-ups advertising what is on next (and next week). It is all too much! It is almost as if the show is not the main focus anymore. Six or so commercials in a row is TOO many! I have enough time to run an errand somewhere. Do they think anyone sits through these things?

Also, ABC Family is turning into an extension of ABC. What a waste of air space...

ABC is desperate. They are behind NBC and CBS. They already are managed by disney so they have abc family, the disney channel, and toon disney.

I've also noticed that ABC Family is being cloned into a copy of
ABC programing.Yesterday I saw an ad during The Wonder
Years that they are going to start running Alias on ABC Family.
BTW:It would be interesting to see what would happen if
they ever decided to run Alias on the same time as La Femme
Nikita!!!!

Dish Network also thinks that ABC Family is a waste of time and money, because they are considering dropping it from their service. Disney wants a lot of money for it and if all it's going to be is a rerun haven for ABC, why pay for it?

Yep, I have to agree with everything you guys said. Interesting information....What will be interesting is to see if ABC actually listens to its viewers....bet they don't, but I can always hope.

I can see that happening !!!

Dish Network has already dropped ESPN Classic ( was on channel 143 ) and heard they will be dropping another ESPN channel. Both owned by Disney/ABC.

I haven't noticed any differences in editing between FOX and ABC Family. And I'm happy "According to Jim" is going to be rerun, hopefully "My Wife & Kids" will be too. I mean, FX does that with FOX progams, why can't ABC FAMILY do it with ABC shows?

i think nickatnite is worse...while watching 'three's company', they'd cut to a commercial, and when it went back to 'three's company', one of the roommates would always be right in the middle of a line. it makes me mad!i can't wait for TC to go to a different network!

NAN is as bad as The Family Channel....I gave up watching NAN a long time ago for other reasons, but chopping up the shows to make room for commercials is as bad as any I left for.

I don't tune in to see commercials! I understand the need for commercials, but when they completely interfere with what you are watching, it's time to find something else to watch or do. It is a sad situation....

State of Grace is there only primetime series. I think its a good quality show, if it does well with viewers it might, might move up to ABC, probably not.

Editing wise, I think N&N is much worse. ABC Family shows a little over 22 minutes of an episode of Who's the Boss? However, on Nick at Nite, you take an episode of The Jeffersons and it's only about 21 minutes, if even. ABC Family is much better when it comes to editing, however, for Who's the Boss? they stick in commercial breaks at the worst times, usually after only three minutes at the beginning of the show, at it's quite noticable that a commercial break wasn't suppose to be there..
