Kate Middleton has gone into labour

As Kate Middleton, wife of Prince William who is the son of Prince Charles and the late Diana,Princess of Wales goes into a maternity wing in a London hospital today one cannot help but think of the anomalous ramifications of this Royal birth. Of course as any ordinary family who are expecting one wishes them well,but this is not a run of the mill birth. The baby which is born in Kate Middleton's bed in the next few hours will one day become King or Queen of sixteen countries around the globe including the United Kingdom,Canada,Australia and New Zealand.

Count yourself lucky if you're unaffected or put it this way: it's a bit like knowing that your next President will be Hillary Clinton,then Chelsea,then it's Chelsea's child's turn,without you getting a dicky bird's say in the process. One is expected to grin and bear it,pay homage by bowing in its presence and pay it and its surrounding sycophants an ever-increasing salary from the public purse in the midst of the worst recession since the Wall Street Crash of 1929.

I pray that the delivery will go safely. Prince William went through a lot. He lost his mother at the age of 15 and had to go through that publicity at her funeral. I think he is a brave and outstanding man. Haven't anything bad about him.

Royality is just a "Figurehead" in their politics, since Parlament and their Prime Minister are the ones who pass and repeal laws in their country, just as Congress and the President pass laws in our country.

That's partly true Regulus,and the Royals have to do what the men in grey suits tell them,but they still wield enormous patronage,the Monarch meets with the Prime Minister every Tuesday evening to discuss laws in Parliament making it unlikely MPs( who must swear an oath of allegiance directly to the Queen before they even set foot in the House of Commons) would ever upset them as well as engage in small talk,their names adorn our law courts,they don't pay their full whack of taxes,they enjoy a lifestyle most people could only dream of,they curry favour with the Royal Box at Wimbledon,I could go on..

I dont think I've heard "dicky bird's say" before Steve. Steve, it's a big deal in the United States as people have been talking about and I think even taking bets on the name of the baby, the sex of the baby and when the baby is born.

Look, I hope the baby and Kate and William all do fine and the baby is healthy. That's the most important thing.

Of course I agree with that. But the issue is this:William and Kate can have 9 babies if they so wish just like their ancestor Queen Victoria and spoil them rotten with the £30 million William inherited from his mother Diana. They can live as private citizens and lead the life of riley visiting their great-aunt's old home in Mustique and do whatever they like within the law. Only: I'm paying partly for this and I can't elect them. As long as they take public funds they remain accountable and subject to the same media intrusion which ultimately killed Diana in Paris. It's in their interests to cut all constitutional ties with the United Kingdom,let alone be Head of State of Australia,a country 13,000 miles away.

However, I am sick of hearing about this on the news 24/7.
All the 24/7 networks are carrying this and not much else apparently is happening in the world.

I know. I managed to find what I thought was an escape route from that story watching a programme on Mozart but even then the news was flashed up on the screen with an invitation to flick over to Sky News. I couldn't help but reflect on the irony of one of the world's most talented composers whose corpse ended up being sewn into a linen sack and dumped into a pauper's grave in the Vienna of 1791 juxtaposed with the lavishness of the Royal world where aptitude matters not one jot to the material existence that set will enjoy.

They have enormous patronage if not political power,the state media the BBC is on their side from the word go,they live in a world most people could only dream of,yet I don't envy them. The sad thing is Diana never got to see her grandchild.
