Default This picture confirms why Mike Evans left the show after the 1st season

Why is the son not feature in this photo?????

This proves that the producers didn't think much of the lionel character and only wanted to focus on the relationship between George, Louise, and his mother.

I don't know. Back then when characters appeared on magazine covers such as TV Guide, not all the characters would always appear on the cover.

Lionel should have been included in that photo! It's no wonder why he left.

Mother Jefferson actually did appear in the "Lionel's Engagement" and "The Jeffersons Move Up" episodes of All in the Family!

She was hysterical after Archie referred to her as George's Mammy.

Wasn't the real reason that Michael Evans left was to concentrate on Good Times?
Didn't the first Lionel help create Good Times?
Also, was the the reason that on GT they were the Evans family?

The jeffersons move up ep doesn't count which means she was only seen 1 time AITF versus Lionel's 19 appearances

No, he left because his role became too small on the show and asked Norman lear how can he get off the show

How come the 2nd Lionel also left?
I read somewhere (People Magazine?) that Damon Evans hated Hollywood.

Why did Michael Evans come back after GT was cancelled?
How long was he on before he left for good?

I have to look for why Damon Evans left, I may have posted

Mike Evans returned because he ran into Sherman Hemsley during the summer of 1979 and that's how he got back on the show. I think he left for good in 1981 or 1982 and made one last appearance in 1985

I found my post about Damon Evans left, read below

I found out back in 2006 Half of the reason why Damon evans left in 1978 from a Jet Magazine. Damon wanted more money and he didn't it so he left the Jeffersons after season 4. At that time I coukdn't figure out why he would be asking for money but I found out tonight. I was reading about the movie Roots in my TV Book and thenI came aross a TV show called-"Roots, The Next Generations that premeired in Feb of 1979. Damon Evans was a cast member on this show so it appears that ABC approached him in 1978 about being involved on this show and that's what probably made him DEMAND more money to stay on the Jeffersons because he had the Roots TV show in his back pocket. Plus production for the Roots TV show started in 1978 which he why Damon asked for more money before season 5 of the Jeffersons started. So him requesting more money all makes a lot of sense now but damm sure didnt make sense in 2006-lol

There's another photo where those three are wearing the same outfits, but Lionel is in the picture, so I'm assuming it was from a set of promo shots on set. That said, the writers didn't do a whole lot with Lionel, so it's very understandable that Mike Evans would leave.
