I ran across this article by Ted Bergmann, one of the key writers on Sanford and Son. It gives an intimate account of what it was like on the set and behind the scenes. I wish Mr. Bergmann would write a book about his experiences on Sanford and Son and some of the many other shows he has worked on. It's somewhat hard to comprehend how this Jewish man wrote some of these funny lines for the show. Those lines flowed from the cast so naturally that its hard to imagine that someone from a completely different background and culture was coming up with these jokes. kudos to both the cast and the writers. Once you click on the link you'll have to scroll down a bit to get to the article. The article is not short, but it's worth a read, particularly to anyone interested in writing and the art of making a sitcom. |

Hi . . . thanks for posting! Great article and the kind of "behind the scenes" info about the show I've been looking for. I echo your sentiments that Ted Bergmann ought to write a book about his Sanford & Son era.
Thanks again for posting!
