You Know My Name
Come Together
I used to like Hippy Hippy Shake, but now I find it corny.
Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da
I think Penny Lane was an okay song until they played it on one oldies station a while back a few too many times.
I don't know, but Rocky Raccoon is a corny song as well.

Hmmm- I love a lot of songs by The Beatles.
But there are a few that I don't like very well- though I do like the music, I don't care for all the lyrics of "The Ballad of John and Yoko"- I don't really care for John Lennon comparing his trials to the crucifixion of Christ [when none of us can ever really compare anything to the depth of love God has for us by sacrificing Christ- of course, the Good News is that not only did Christ die but He rose again and gives us salvation through our faith in Him! ]
and then Lennon also takes the Name of Christ in vain in that song.

"Why Don't We Do It In The Road?" - um, yeah- because we're not animals and because sex is a special act that's reserved for the marriage bed.

And these aren't by The Beatles as a group, but from individual members:

"My Sweet Lord" by George Harrison- To be clear, I really love the tune and I don't have an issue with him proclaiming his love for and desire to be with Krishna. That's cool if George Harrison wanted to make a song talking about his faith. I respect him for that.
So, with this one, it's not so much that I don't like the song, I just find it sad that Mr. Harrison probably never came to know Jesus as Savior.... the same as is most likely the case with Mr. John Lennon.

And that's also why I would list "Working Class Hero" (mainly for using some very foul language), and another song whose title I don't want to even mention for the same reason [though the purpose of the song, which was to decry the bad treatment of women I do agree with-And I get that the derogatory term in the title was used for a reason to make his point- but I just personally would never use that word even with such a good intention in mind....), "Imagine" and of course, the song "God".
When it comes to John Lennon's work, I respect him as a person and an as a musical artist and I do enjoy a lot of his music (along with The Beatles in general.) God gave them all a lot of talent. I just disagree with them theologically on some things- and particularly with "Imagine" and "God"- I disagree with the message in these songs. Now with Lennon's "God" song- he states that he doesn't believe in God or anything- he just believes in himself. Now, he's welcome to his beliefs (or lack thereof), but again- I just find it sad that he didn't believe in Jesus and The Bible. (Interestingly enough, he apparently also used this song to renounce his Hindu beliefs that I thought he had held at one time, since he says he also doesn't believe in mantra, yoga or the Bhagavad Gita.)
And I don't think God is a concept by which we measure our pain. God is the One who came to set us free from pain, suffering and death- by enduring pain, suffering and death for us through Jesus' death and Resurrection.
I wish John Lennon had come to know this and come to know Christ, but I doubt that he did. So I just find this song he wrote to be sad and depressing in general.

And though I love the tune of "Imagine" and in some ways the idealistic world of peace that John Lennon so much desired definitely resonates with me and I agree with that part. That longing is definitely there in all of us- hence, Lennon's song "Give Peace A Chance". However, there is a Heaven and Hell and I can't agree with "Imagine"'s idea encouraging people to imagine they don't exist. One can imagine that if they wish, but the reality still remains. The fact that John Lennon invites the listener to imagine this rather than states it as fact ironically seems to indicate that perhaps Lennon did concede that they both exist, thus the need to imagine a world where they didn't.
And I just don't buy into that vision of humanistic peace because we will never have real peace outside of the Prince of Peace- Jesus Christ. Again, I understand Lennon's longing for a brotherhood of man in the song, but I just generally find it very sad that he likely never came to see that Jesus came for the very purpose of establishing a way for us to enter such a kingdom of peace- the Kingdom of Heaven.

Yellow Submarine-man do I ever hate that song

The one thing that keeps REVOLVER from being a perfect album.

Also "Ob la De O Bla Di" or however the hell you spell it

"Piggies", "Dont Pass Me By"

"When I'm Sixty Four" hands down one of Paul McCartney's worst songs.

"Hey Jude" sucked sharp-edged rotten egg shells. I cannot believe that anyone even remotely likes this long, overly drawn out, poorly concieved badly sung imitation of a song. Phew!

Octopus's Garden
I don't know, but a lot of songs that sound like pop standards rather than the ones that really rock or get experimental and groundbreaking really get on my nerves. The Beatles were talented, but on songs like "When I'm Sixty-Four", why did they have to sound all Tin Pan Alley??

In my Rock & Roll History Thread about the 60's, it was mentioned that many songs on 'Sgt. Pepper' really rubbed many rockers the wrong way, because it was way too eclectic and "pop".

From the ones I've actually listened to, Paperback Writer. It's just not that pleasant to the ears.
