Meredith Vieira to Host Daytime Talk Show

Meredith Vieira will host her own daytime talkshow on NBC, NBCUniversal announced Tuesday. "The Meredith Vieira Show" will debut in the fall and receive national syndication.

"All of us at NBCU are so excited about this new show with Meredith," Ted Harbert, chairman of NBC Broadcasting said in a statement.

"She creates an instant connection with audiences with her smart, quick-witted and down-to-earth style. This entertaining and substantive show will be a great way to reach her loyal daytime fans as well as new ones who will discover why Meredith is one of America's most loved television personalities."





Vieira's statement:

"As a journalist on Today and 60 Minutes, I learned how to really listen to people and help give them a voice. On The View, I unleashed my own opinionated self and discovered the empowerment that comes with sometimes heated, but always respectful, discussion. And on Millionaire, I relished the joy of changing people's lives while having pure fun.

All of these experiences, along with being a wife and mom, have led me here because they all share one common denominator... this fundamental need we have to connect with and find inspiration in each other.

Each day, I hope to accomplish what I call the three H's: Heat, Heart and Humor. And speaking of the heart, I want to thank my husband, Richard, and kids, Ben, Gabe and Lily for strongly encouraging me to take this incredible opportunity... or else they really just want to get me out of the house."





"The Meredith Viera Show" will be taped on a New York set modeled after Vieira's real-life home, including everything from the furniture to family photos.

The hour-long program will feature both celebrity guests and stories from every day people.

Congrats to Meredith in her New Talk show. I will definitely be watching in 2014! Meredith just has the personality and warmth about her.

She left the View 7 Years ago and that was more of a Ensemble cast.

I wish Meredith luck. I dont mind her although I haven't followed her career that much. Hopefully, her show won't be done after one season like a lot of these shows are.

"The Meredith Vieira Show" Sold to NBC-Owned Stations

The other shoe dropped on new "The Meredith Vieira Show" this morning when NBCUniversal officially announced it had sold the show to NBC’s 10 O&O stations.

When the show was announced earlier this month we noted no pickups were announced, but that NBC’s station group had not committed to a new show to succeed freshman Jeff Probst, which did not get renewed, and would probably keep the 2 PM slot warm with temporary programming.





Those 10 NBC-owned stations include:

WNBC in New York
KNBC in Los Angeles
WMAQ in Chicago
WCAU Philadelphia
KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth
KNTV San Francisco
WRC Washington DC
WTVJ Miami
KNSD San Diego
WVIT Hartford



Together, they cover more than 27% of the nations’ TV households, which, as NBCUniversal Domestic TV Distribution bigwig Sean O’Boyle correctly noted in the announcement, is a great start for a show heading into the marketplace looking for distribution.
