Joe brought a lot to The Waltons as Ike and he will be missed. Corabeth and "Mr. Godsey" were very memorable. Joe also popped up on many earlier series, often as a delivery man or in other small roles.

I know it was said at the last Waltons Reunion party out in Cali last Fall, he wasn't looking too well, and had Alzheimer's...Some said it would probably be the last time he'd be seen in public...But they said he was a really nice guy and still was able to sign autographs and such

Joe Conley. Ike was a great character on The Waltons and a lot of the credit for that goes to Joe conley foe his portrayal of the character.

Mr. Godsey...I'll always treasure my autographs of him! He was one of my favorite characters, and he was there since the beginning.

I watche the episode "The Matchmaker" last night in Joe's honor. That's the episode in which Ike meets, courts, and eventually marries John Walton's cousin Cora Beth.

Actress Ronnie Claire Edwards, who played Corabeth, mourned his passing on Facebook, writing, "It was one of the greatest pleasures of my television career to play Corabeth opposite Joe because he made me so much better. I share all of your grief and appreciate your many condolences. He will be greatly missed but, thankfully, we may enjoy his work for years to come in the many reruns of 'The Waltons'." |
