Post Beverly Hillibiies Public Domain

Many of the Beverly Hillbillies from before 1964 are in Public Domain. The first two seasons are Public Domain as long as the intro music (which is still under copyright) is changed or removed.

When you buy Seasons 1 and 2, just be aware you are probably buying something that is free to view online or for you to download and make your own Season 1 and 2 DVDs. One of the ways to do this is to use a free DVD menu creator and burner like DVDStyler.

I have noticed that many Classic DVDs have almost or all Public Domain on them and are 3 times the cost of a normal DVD. You can get around that by doing it yourself. If more people were to do this, the price would fall down to a reasonable level.

Side Note: From 1964 and newer, all Beverly Hillbillies are under some kind of copyright or can be copyright recovered. The Flatts and Shruggs Opening Theme and ending credits will be under copyright for.....well....... a few lifetimes.

I've watched some of those episodes on YouTube. I hate that music they dub in over the original theme.

Here are two areas that they can be viewed. It's been separated so you know what is Public Domain and what isn't. All of these are public domain. If there are a couple with the original Flatts and Schruggs music, that's a oversight on the Depositories end.

Public Domain

Now I know you hate me as well

Go for the MPI releases, Volume 1 & 2. They have the original music, uncut episodes, sponser endorsements, and other extras. Then get seasons 2 & 3 CBS versions. All the public domain material for The Beverley Hillbillies, The Lucy Show, The Andy Griffith Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show, should be thrown in the trash!

No matter what anyone tells you, there are NO public domain for any Any Griffith Show or The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Just to let you know, if you did get either Beverly Hillbillies or the Lucy Show with different theme music as the beginning, chances are, it will be of the early shows and you just purchased Public Domain. I don't suggest purchasing Public Domain if you can find it on the Net. If you want the original music then you will pay for the Unedited Non Public Domain versions.

Is there any way to explain the many releases over the past decade or so, by DVD manufacturers that seem to be reputable, of several episodes (for both TAGS and TDVDS)?

Any legal action on record, if those aren't public domain eps?

It's been claimed that 16 episodes of The Andy Griffith Show - an entire half of Season 3 in number - are in the public domain.

Some of the public domain sets of episodes still have the original music. I have one that I bought at Wal-Mart for $5.00 over a decade ago, and the music is intact.

But on most others, they have some lame generic banjo music for the theme.

There are NONE in public domain. In 2010, they recovered them all and backdated the copyrights back to 2007, If you believe that one is Public Domain list it here and I will look it up for you.
