I have made some car changes in the last few weeks.
1. I decided to put my '66 Plymouth Fury VIP up for sale last August and actually did so several weeks ago. Received a few calls but nothing serious. Then last Wednesday, someone called from El Monte, about 35 miles away from me. He asked if he could drive over and check out the car. I, of course, agreed. He arrived with his brother, both being about 55-60 years old. They liked the car; the straight body, the plush and comfortable seats and the 383-4 bbl engine. One of them started it up and we drove in the neighborhood. I offered to let the potential buyer drive it but he said it wasn't necessary... they both liked the car very much; how it drove and felt. We got back to the house and completed the transaction. I owned it for 4 years and had my fun with it. The new owner said his 16-year-old nephew likes classic cars and he was already at his house spending 2 or 3 days washing it and polishing it. He also replaced the exhaust manifold gasket. That is what the car needs; someone who has the desire and energy to improve its condition. The photos below show the car on the day of the sale and the new owner's brother pulling out of the driveway. 2. My 1995 Lincoln Town Car was repainted. I took it to a place where a car friend had his 1966 Chevy Nova repainted (from red to black) and I was impressed with how good it came out for a discount paint job. I chose to repaint mine in dark blue; it was gray. It also came out well. I think it looks much better in dark blue. In fact, if I bought it new, I never would have picked gray. See "before" and "after" photos below. |

The paint job on your Town Car looks very nice. I like the new color!

I like the new paintjob, Tony, although I prefer black. I know you have a black one already. Congrats on the sale of your other car. That went relatively fast, considering this economy.

Marv: Thanks. I also think the new color looks much better.
Janice: Yes, I was concerned if it would sell at all in this current economy, but it did. In a better economy, I probably would have had a higher asking price. I didn't choose black because I already have two black Cadillacs and because I always wanted a blue car! |

My parents and I had a 1995 Lincoln Town Car in that same color. I remember it had a car phone and at the time I thought that was so cool. LOL!

I find gray kind of blah. Even when it's clean, it looks blah! Other than black, I like cars with some color to it... blue, burgundy, red, green (not high on my list, though), orange, yellow, etc. I don't really care for white, not color to it, but I may pick white over green or brown. |
