Probably "The Hero" from Season 1 - which gave Chano and his portrayer, the wonderful Gregory Sierra, a chance to truly shine.

The Werewolf episode from season 3 is one of my favorites and the Heat Wave episode from season 2 is also a favorite.

I knew you'd mention "The Werewolf"!!! Great episode. "This is a police station, not a horror movie!!!"

As for "Heat Wave", I liked parts of it - especially where Wojo in drag is concerned. But I was disturbed by the subplot of the wife being beaten by her husband and the cavalier attitude the squad displayed. Nowadays, you couldn't air scenes like that without serious backlash. Maybe that was the public attitude in 1975, I don't know, I wasn't alive then. But it still struck me as off. Whenever I watch that episode, I fast-forward over that plot. The only good thing about it was that the woman got the last word in by signing a formal complaint (restraining order?) against her abusive husband.

"Stake Out" is a favorite -- one of the few times Barney and the guys leave the police station.

And "Rain" always makes me laugh -- the way the squadroom is filled with buckets to catch the rain and the building keeps creeking -- LOL.

One of my favorites is Moonlighting. It has alot of great Dietrich lines, actually episode with a lot of Dietrich in it is fine by me. I'm a little embarrassed to mention this but one time a few years back Jeopardy had a catorgory about TV shows, where they gave you an episode title and you had to name the series. Well one of the clues was Dietrich's Arrest and not one contestant even rang in. Meanwhile I'm screaming BARNEY MILLER!!!! at the top of my lungs and berating the stupid people for not getting it.

Lol

^ I can totally imagine that scenario. I often yell at the TV when the contestants on Jeopardy! don't get clues like that.

Seeing that I watched it again fairly recently (OK today-the day before Halloween) -- I'd say "Werewolf" is my favorite. Love the lines in it throughout.

Barney: "This is a police station not a horror movie"
Yemana: "I better put down some newspaper in the cage"
Fish: "Howareya" (in that funny voice)

Great episode.

Hash is also my favorite episode.

It's too funny. I watched it for like the 20th time last night.

"How about we go down to the beach and shoot some clams?" "mooshy mooshy mooshy!" -Yemana

Barney: Det. Harris take these brownies and get them analyzed.
Harris: *takes a brownie and bites it*
Barney: NOT LIKE THAT!

I'm just sad that Dietrich wasn't in that episode though. I would have loved to see him stoned.

My first post upon this message board is to extend a HUGE "thumbs up" for those mentioning the hash brownie episode.

A thoroughly groovy laugh-fest

I really enjoyed when Barney blew a gasket after part of the ceiling collapsed.

I just recently started watching the season 1 DVD and had this episode on the other night. It's so hilarious, especially when Fish wakes up and he's all hunched over, and Barney has to help him get to the bathroom.

Another favorite of mine is now "The Harris Incident" Love it. Love it. Love it.

Also. The episode where Arthur tries celibacy and some prostitutes come into the station. It's hilarious.
