Default "Psychic" lies eventually catch up to them

http://www.chron.com/news/houston-te...of-4596687.php

If only this would befall Sylvia Browne, John Edward, and the countless other "psychics" who prey on grief for their own personal gain.

I followed this case back when it happened. The cops went nuts, called in the FBI, a couple guys in SWAT gear were at the property. Seems like there were dozens of officials looking all around the outside of the place while waiting on the search warrant to arrive, allowing them to search inside.

Based on a brownish substance found outside they said they'd found blood at the scene. IIRC, they announced they'd found bodies, when they'd actually found nothing except some rotting household garbage, then backtracked. After that the media started fabricating the rest of the tale.

What I haven't been able to find out is how this "psychic" tipster was connected to the people she victimized. It was a rural area of about 3,000 residents. How did she know these people or did she pick their house at random? It seems to me that she used the police and FBI to harass innocent people, but why? For kicks? Vendetta? Jealously? Love triangle? Insanity? I don't get the motive.

Also, she refused to attend the recent legal hearings and, I think, ignored subpoenas to show up to court.

That's the question I had. I shudder to think it was a case of simply pointing on a map or something.

I couldn't agree more, but I also put equal blame on Montel Williams and the other people who have put these psychic "experts" on their shows over the years.

People want to believe and these psychics take advantage of that. They're sick.

While I honestly believe there are some people who are more intuitive than others, anyone who exploits that is beyond reprehensible.

That's what I was wondering, since it sounds like she had some information about them. On the dispatch call, she gave the exact address, knew that the woman occupant was a truck driver and that her daughter and boyfriend lived at the home. She even mentioned Sylvia Browne in her call, along with other oddball statements that should have made the sheriff's dept. question her credibility from the start, even if they felt obligated to check the property.

The blood that the police found was from a suicide attempt made by the daugher's boyfriend that they themselves had responded to previously.

Sounds like the South Park episode where Cartman uses his "psychic powers" to frame other "psychics" and others he doesn't like

Agreed, although my opinion on all those trash day-time TV hosts (and "journalists") is already so low that's it is hard to get much worse.
