Who out there has been to an autograph show and who did you see? Did they rush people in and out or were you allowed to chat with the celebrity? Who was really nice (or not)? Did you ask any off the wall questions?

It wasn't really a show per say but I've been to three autograph sessions. Two were in NYC where I met the cast of One Life To Live at the One Life to Live Fan Club Party, including Kathy Brier, Nathaniel Marston, Kassie DePavia, Trevor St. John, Dan Gauthier... just to name a few. I did that in both 2004 and 2005.
And in 2004 I also went to Hollywood for a benefit for late actor Richard Biggs who was on Babylon 5 and Days of Our Lives. I met Matthew Ashford, Melissa Gilbert, Lisa Howard, Stephen Nichols, etc. |

I have attended the Big Apple Con (now NY Wizard World) pretty regularly since the late '90s. Most of the celebs. have been happy to talk w/ you. If it's a real long line then you can expect to just have your items signed and move on. Usually it's done by the handlers to keep things moving.
Some of the celebs. I met at this convention over the years are: Butch Patrick Michael Berryman Kane Hodder Dave Prowse Ken Foree Debbie Rochon Danielle Harris Val Kilmer Jason Mewes Tom Felton Dan Fogler James Marsters Mike Lookinland Christopher Knight Barry Williams Linda Hamilton Doug Jones Ernie Hudson Mary McDonnell Wrestlers: King Kong Bundy The Sandman Kevin Nash Tammy Lynn Sytch I attended the Chiller Theatre horror convention in April 2011 where I met: Vivica A. Fox Gary Busey Robert Knepper Bai Ling Susan Olsen I also went to the Dark Shadows 45th Anniv. August 2011: Lara Parker Marie Wallace Kathryn Leigh Scott Roger Davis Donna Wandrey |

I've been to several over the years, mostly the local horror and comic conventions. I've met many celebrities at these shows. It depends on the fame of the celebrity and on the day that you attend. On weekend shows, Saturday is typically the busiest day, so lines are likely to be longer. In these instances, you might not have a chance to chat for very long, but again, it depends on the celebrity.
When I met Caroline Williams from Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, she couldn't have been anymore awesome. I was able to chat with her for around 45 minutes. On the other hand, when I recently met Norman Reedus, he had a massive line (hours long if you were at the end of it), so he did not have time to chat. It was just a handshake, autograph, and "Nice to meet you." I haven't had any bad experiences, just a couple people who were not as friendly as others. Ian Ziering was clearly annoyed that I asked him to write "Steve" under his signature. No one else has ever had a problem writing the character name--in fact, many write the character name on their own. But he rolled his eyes. It's like, I'm sorry that you haven't had the fame for people to recognize you by any other name. |
