Default The Purse Thing

It has been close to three months since I posted a message called "A Priceless Experience". That thread has now been pushed pretty far down this page. A lot of what has pushed it there has been other failed attempts by me to stimulate some conversation! On top of that, there have been a few posts about a syndication channel that is now showing reruns of the show. However, the novelty of that situation has worn off too. In any event, my thread now has forty views and zero replies. The priceless experience that I wrote about had to do with the first-season episode called the "Emergency". By the way, this was the first episode that I ever saw. I was twelve years old at the time. The main thing that caused me to fall in love with this show was Nell's interaction with the little busy body on the pay phone in the hospital. I loved it when Nell hung the purse on the gurney pole, poked the lady, said "your purse, your purse", and the little lady went charging down the corridor! Well, this episode has been up on You Tube for quite a while. I have posted quite a few comments about my fondness for the episode in general and this incident in particular. Responses to any of my posts or any comments posted by anyone other then me have been few and far-between. However, a while back, someone posted a comment about how he or she is also quite fond of that situation. The poster concluded with "the purse thing was priceless"! That is what gave me the title for my post. However, because of how far down that thread has been pushed, I have decided to start a new one about the same topic. I am wondering whether giving the thread a different name will intrigue some replies!

The plot of this episode was Katie being rushed the the hospital because of a pain in her stomach. It turns out that the pain was caused by a complication due to a birth control device. Nell could not believe her ears when the doctor gave her the news! She wanted to call Julie at home to find out if Julie had managed to contact Mr. Kinisky at work to tell him that Nell had taken Katie to the hospital and that Samantha had gone with them to help out. However, there was only one pay phone in the area and the little busy body had it! That is where we come to the purse thing!

OK, I vaguely remember now. Before Katie's mother died, she wanted to make sure that Katie was protected with birth control because she knew Katie was promiscuous and the mom also knew that she wouldn't be around much longer. The chief didn't handle the news too well from what I remember. I don't really remember this purse thing you talked about.

Well, just in case you are interested, the episode (called the "Emergency") has been uploaded onto You Tube. The purse thing is in the second segment. I have heard of Nell's "your purse, your purse" line as being a classic line!

I notice that two new comments have been posted today. Both of them were replies to threads that had already been started. I am happy to see that conversation is picking up a little bit. Because I really have nothing to add to the topic of either of those threads, I have decided to bring this one to the top of the page. I am not sure whether I get the channel that the syndicated episodes are being shown on or not. It does not really matter anyway because I have the whole series on DVD. However, it is my understanding that it has been broadcast for at least a couple of weeks. Because the episode that I wrote about when I started this thread was a relatively early episode, I would not be surprised if it has already cycled through. I finger if some of you have seen it in the recent past, you might want to comment on it.

I understand your frustration in regards to little response because sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself. But that's what people do I guess. Thank you for the info on this YouTube episode, I have to check it out.

In the first place, thank you for the reply! On top of that, if you find the episode that I wrote about when I first started this thread, I am sure that you will enjoy it. It has been on You Tube for upwards of four years. Also, do you get the channel that is showing syndicated episodes? If so, I would be very interested in knowing what point in the series they are up to at this point.

Sorry it's been awhile. I did see the episode on YouTube and I loved it! LOL! Yes, I get the station they are showing the show in syndication. In my area it's on TV1 and I'm not sure the exact season they are in however, it's the later seasons because the girls are grown, Joey is settled in and the Chief is rarely seen. You can tell he was ill because of the weight he had lost too. One of the episodes I watched last Friday was "The baby of the family". I did not like Sam at all in this episode, she was awful and all because she was jealous of Joey.

Thank you very much for eventually getting back to me! The episode called "Baby of the Family" is in the fourth season. On top of this, you mentioned having seen the "Emergency" on You Tube and that you enjoyed it. Like I mentioned when I first started this thread, it was the "your purse, your purse!" line that I fell in love with! A fellow poster on You Tube referred to it as a classic line. Do you think that it deserves to be classified as such?

A short while ago, I brought another old thread to the top of this page hoping to be able to stimulate some new conversation. I think that, just for good measure, I will bring this one to the top as well.

It seems as if things are slowing down again after they were busy for quite a while. Earlier in this sitting, I tried to stimulate some more conversation by bringing one of the older threads to the top of the page. Now I am going to see what happens when this one goes to the top!

Samantha is such a weirdo and a very creepy kid. I don't like her at all.

The post that you are quoting is clearing in regards to the episode "Baby of the Family". So you obviously took this quite from a thread that pertained to that episode. I am curious as to why you mentioned that situation on this thread.

I already think Samantha is a creep and a weirdo. I'm only half way through season two, so by the time I get up to this Baby Of the Family episode,, I'm sure I'll despise her even more. The last episode I saw was Love Kidney. The chief's brother needed a kidney transplant and the chief volunteered. Sam tells the chief that she wishes Uncle Ed would die so the chief wouldn't have to have an operation. She should have kept that to herself. The kid is just selfish, weird and slow.
