Alan Hale Sr as Boats O'Hara
... in the 1943 movie celebrating the brave war service of the Merchant Marines ACTION IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC.
Humphrey Bogart was the star. Alan Hale the comic relief. A U-boat ships his ship. The crew swims to a life raft and after 11 days adrift, they are rescued. While ashore waiting for another ship, Alan is tracked down by his wife, angry he hasn't called. She gives him a summons. He tears it up as he heads back to sea, saying "them Liberty Ships are well-named." But look at him in this skipper-style hat. Remind you of anyone? |
