Basically, what I'm saying is that you take any classic show from the past, Dick Van Dyke, I Love Lucy, Father Knows Best etc. and you put that type of setting in today's environment, would it work? Would a show like Father Knows Best work today? I'm talking about storylines, dialogue, everything.

I mean...you couldn't just lift these shows up and re-create them. Television has changed drastically. A show like I Love Lucy is notable for everything in started in TV and sitcoms...but if it premiered now, it would have significantly less of an impact because of the hundreds of shows that have come along since and borrowed its formula. (Though I'd argue it'd still be pretty damn funny).
