Default Spectrum Analysis of TNN

Let's do Spectrum Analysis.

A chap on the Usenet wanted to know if the TNN Black Bar got on his nerves. Well well. It didn't take too long to reply that:

(On wanting to know if E-mailing them would do the proper goody good)

The E-Mail option is screened by low level interns for negativity, vibes that is vibrations and the like. Amen. It shan't get through to the Corporate Ladder. For this a Nice Snail Mail goes well (allowing for that anthrax, act of God, etc). Somewhere on the Web I have a Spectrum Analysis of Nick @ Nite, which got a D.

Well now, if Slick Nick got a D, then I say TNN gets an F!... for content & the DBB (deadly Black Bar). In fact I'd rather watch Trinity Broadcasting Network Christian TV channel w/the Pink Haired Lady & the Daniel Fasts than that Diseased "thing".

Cousin Oliver on Brady Bunch was a good idea compared to TNN's junk. BTAIM, networks "seem" to know what they're doing to make a profit. And I think I've got TNN figured out:

Branding. They try to tap into the "Trekkie" factor and the "Biffs that Wrassle WWF" factor 1st of all. This is their Flagship Stuff; otherwise they struggle to get quality, so you'll be seeing a "Gaither Praise & Worship"/Psychic Friends Network approach as well as 6 Hours of Infomercials past the Witching Hour (late nite).

Amen.

And they ARE Struggling I Daresay. From my travels on the Net, I have figured out that the Internet Newsgroups are having a Field Day w/the Black Bar. The word "Sucks" has been mentioned. Anyway could this be a reason TNN is adding "Diff'rent Strokes, Three's Company, etc" to their lineup? To prop up a struggling channel.

For lo and though it is true that the "average TV watcher" pays no mind to the bugs n branding, let it be said:

The Black Bar is an Obvious Nuisance that even the most Casual TV Watcher couldn't miss! Moving on w/the Spectra on TNN's Branding:

Then they see fit to, in my mind & others, tick people off w/the Black Bar & Show Title But Wait! Most viewers...make it Many Viewers...tune to their favorite show. And They Don't Go By Channel Either! LiKe IT Doe$n'T MaTTeR iF a Man UniTed soccer (fuTboL) GaMe is on PBS, ABC, CBS (pipe dreams for USA) or Univision (se habla Espanol) as long as they can watch it. But the suits!

Yea I'm on a Roll Now!

(For Brady Bunch could be on Black Entertainment Network & it wouldn't matter. This Branding & TV Bugs stuff may do w/another Spectrum Analysis later)

Rolling:

The suits want to "brand" the network so that we Homo Sapiens can KNOW the Vital Fact that XYZ show was brought to you by NBC, or in this case TNN. Let us remember that the "shows" as such exist as "filler" so that the Networks can put in Commercials for $. The Real Thing. The Bread. Amen.

And in TNN's case if they can't get us by subversion, they'll get us by War!

Digress:

That sure sounds familiar? yep Hawkeye Pierce said it in M*A*S*H, which was brought to me by Which Network? Can't remember? Oh Darn!

Bugs & logos serve this purpose on the "saner" networks like CNN & ESPN (that is those w/out the Deadly Black Bar). And I'll say they can be annoying at times.

It varies from network to network, but in general TNN Is The Worst at this here "branding".

They know what they're doing though.

Notice the ads have no Black Bar! (shoots down that station ID theory; networks do an announcement anyhow In Addition to the Bugs)

Notice the WWF has No Black Bar! (Vince McMahon probably fussed em out about it)

A week Reed of a lineup save for WWF & Star Trek (ratings declining?) is "branded" w/the most tackiest interface possible in order to draw attention to their mess. Such as Baywatch, etc. And Now the News that they're adding Three's Company & Diff'rent Strokes is most interesting that. Hmmm.

Now you may be wondering why the FuNNy LetTErInG in the earlier paragraph? Well this is a familiar problem from the Past.
Seems that ESPN 2 had a Radical MTV style approach in their coverage years ago w/Funnily Enough the Same CheeseWiz lettering format in their show titles. A common thing I see on the Usenet is people that write like this: TuBuLaR tO ThE MaX...and thus reveal to All Nations, Tongues, & Kindreds (Dependecies Included) their Stupidity. Same as TNN. I do believe ESPN2 dropped their "MTV" approach (except for X Games) & went w/a diff'rent brand. TNN will drop the DBB or THEY will get dropped.

Amen.

So to cap it off, write em Snail Mail w/Pavanbadal like precision that explains exactly what the problem is (Black Bar) and what you plan to do if said problem isn't corrected (In my case watch another channel like TBN non-profit Christian TV). Revenue goes out the window w/every viewer lost to competitors, so they'll be Doing an Enron in a hurry unless they get with it. I do declare!

The grading before the new arrivals:

F

And the updated grade w/Three's Co. & others (Strokes being a favorite show w/Brady Bunch storylines as well as Three's, which is a Brady Bunch cousin w/the number 3 being a Root of the 9 Person Grid):

D-- w/a potential to rise w/No Bar

or:

Fall back to an F

Put it to you this way.

They're hanging by a thread w/a 70 Minus Minus (- - )

This concludes Analysis Spectrum.
