Default new fanfic!

okay, a long-awaited fanfic... thanks to everyone who had ideas, they were awesome.. anyways, here's my new fanfic!

(Cafeteria. Jo's working on her motorcycle while Natalie and Tootie are playing cards.)

N: Got any fives?
T: Go fish.
N: You always tell me that, and I don't get anything good!
T: Well, that's the way it works.
J: Could one of you, or even better, both of you shut up? This already is driving me nuts.
Natalie: Okay... (picks a card) yeah! I got a five! In your face, Too...(Jo glares at her)
J: Would you like something in your face soon?
N: Okay, okay.
(Blair runs in and screams. Jo drops her tools)
J: Oh, not you.
B: Oh, yes me. Sue Ann just set me up with this guy I don't know a thing about... just think, Jo, a blind date!
N: Wow!
T: With who?
B: That's the thing. All I know is that his name is Mike Smith and he's eighteen. I don't know how he looks and he doesn't know about me.
J: Then how are you supposed to know each other?
B: Does it matter? Well, actually, Sue Ann said I should wear a certain type of dress, because he'll know me from that, and I should be very sophisticated. But just think how mysterious this is!
J: Real mysterious. When's this anyway??
B: Saturday.
T: That's two days away.
B: I know.
J: He's older.
B: By two years. What's the difference? (screams again) This is the best news ever!

(Girls' room, Saturday. Blair's admiring her dress as the girls study)
J: I can't believe you're not even going to study for the finals next week.
B: I'll do that on Sunday. (sighs) Or Monday. Whenever I'm finally..
J: Normal?
B: No, refreshed from the blind date. (gives her a dirty look, then sneezes twice)
N: Oh, no.
B: Oh no what?
N: You're sick.
B: No, I'm... (sneezes) not!
T: Yeah, you (fake-sneezes) are!
B: I'm not. (coughs) It's a cold.
T: Mrs. Garrett, Blair's sick!
(Mrs. Garrett comes in, and checks her forehead)
MG: You're burning up.
B: I'm not!
MG: Fever of at least 100.6, Blair. I've been a mother, housekeeper and dietician long enough to guess temperatures. Now, get into bed and cancel that blind date.
B: I don't know his phone number!
MG: Jo, call the restaurant and they can call him.
J: Sure, Mrs. G. (Natalie and Tootie follow her)
B: I'm gonna die.
MG: No, it's just a fever. (not understanding her remark) Not life-threatening.
B: I'll never live this down. "Blair Warner cancels date because of fever." "Warner gets sick before big date." Ohh...

(Lounge. Natalie and Tootie wait for Jo to call the restaurant)
N: Aren't you going to call?
J: I have an idea.
T: Which would be?
J: Go.
N: As Blair?
J: Precisely. (the girls stare) We know Blair, and Blair's gonna be the laughingstock of Eastland if she misses out on the big date she's been bragging about since the minute she found out from Sue Ann. One of you can go get the dress and I can go over to the restaurant as Blair. It's that simple. He doesn't know what Blair looks like, so what do we have to lose?
N: Mrs. Garrett...
J: You can tell her I went to a bike show or something. There's one in the area anyways.
N: Think this'll work?
T: Yeah. Positively brilliant, Jo.
J: But you can't let either of them know. I mean, they think I called the restaurant and they should think that.
T: I'll go get it.
N: What are you going to say?
T: I don't know, I'll think of something.
J: Something that'll let you "have it" for the next three or so hours.
T: I'm on it.

(Restaurant. Jo walks in, looking for Mike. He's sitting by the bar)
Mike: Blair?
J: Yeah. (rethinks this) Yes, you must be Mike.
M: I am. May I take your coat?
J: I'll hang -- you can, certainly. (as he turns, she rolls her eyes, thinking how close she was to blowing this)
M: Have you been here before?
J: This restaurant? Oh, yes, plenty of times. I come from Manhattan, you know, and my father and I come here quite often while he's visiting me.
M: Then you can tell me your favorite thing on the menu, since I've never been here.
(The waiter brings over their menus)
J (opening it up, to herself): Geez, the prices!
M: Something wrong, Blair?
J: Oh, nothing, I'm just seeing how they changed the menu since I was here last.
W: Are we ready to order drinks?
M: Sparkling water for me. Blair?
J: Just a Cok... yes, sparkling water would be fine.
W: Just a minute.
M: You're very sophisticated for sixteen.
J: Heh-heh, really? (rethinks) Thank you. You're very sophisticated for eighteen.
M: Thank you.
W: Your drinks. Now, have we decided dinner?
M: Blair, what was your favorite thing?
J: Aah, the (tries to pronounce the first thing she sees) estcargotts.
W: Escargots?
J: They're delicious.
M: Shall we split an order?
J: Yes, please.
W: Right away, madam.
(A few minutes later)
W: Your dinner... bon appetit.
J (takes one bite): Oh my god, they're snails!
M: Blair?
J: Oh my god, ew! I just ate a..
M: Blair, are you alright?
J (coming to senses): I'm sorry. I'm a little not quite fond of the escargots suddenly. New spice, perhaps.
M: These are quite good.
J: I'll be at the ladies room for a minute.
(ducks into there, absolutely pale)

(Meanwhile, at Eastland)
MG: Has anyone seen Jo?
T: She's at a car show.
N: Bike show.
T: Shh.
MG: When will she be back?
T: Not until very late, she said.
N: I wouldn't wait up.
MG: I won't. I trust Jo enough. Now, who wants to help me take this to Blair?

(Restaurant. Jo comes back)
J: Sorry I'm late. Long line.
M: I see. (checks his watch) This has been a wonderful evening.
J: It has.
(Mike leans closer to her and kisses her)
M: I'm glad you were the right one, Blair. I can't imagine you being anyone else.
J: You'd be surprised.
M: What's this?
J: Oh, nothing. Shall we get dessert?
M: I think we've had enough. I have a splendid idea. Shall we go on another date next week? My phone number is (212) 555-1935.
(Jo freezes)

(At Eastland, late. Jo creeps in, runs into the girls' room, quickly getting rid of the dress and going to bed.)

(The next morning. Blair wakes up first)
B: I missed the date! It wasn't a dream!
N: How're you feeling?
B: Like I just missed the most pivotal day of my life. (sighs) At least Jo canceled and made sure that Mike knew.
N: She did.
T: That's our Jo.
(they exchange looks at the still asleep Jo)
B: Somebody's tired.
N: She went to a bike show last night.
T: I'd let her sleep.
N: She needs it. (changes the subject) I'm gonna go study.
T: Me too.
B: I'm going to join you.

(Later. The phone rings and Blair picks it up)
B: Hello? (smiles) Yes, this is Blair Warner... Mike? You wanted to know if I was free next Saturday after a (smile fades) wonderful date last night? I don't know what you're... I have to go. (hangs up) Jo's going to die.
N: Huh?
B: She's going to die.
T: What'd she... oh, no.
B: If Mrs. Garrett was here last night, and so were you, and obviously so was I, then Jo wasn't at a bike show! She was out with Mike pretending she was me! I'm going to wring her neck! I'm going to kill her with anything I can find! I'm gonna...
N: Quit the gory details?
(Jo walks in. Blair marches right up to her)
B: You are... so dead.
J: What'd I do?
B: Mike Smith just called me. Said he had a wonderful date last night. Don't play dumb with me, Jo. I know you went out with him last night as me!
J: Blair...
(Blair marches off)
B: And don't think you can be forgiven so easily!
N: I refuse to quote your "what do we have to lose" speech.

(Girls' room)
J: Blair... (no answer) Blair, I'm sorry.
B: I don't think so.
J: You don't get it.
B: Oh, believe me, I get it. You thought you'd go out with him instead.
J: As you! That's the thing, Blair, as you. Since you were sick, I didn't want you to have to face embarassment... (Blair glares at her) if you didn't go out with him, and you know, I only wanted to help.
B: And you did. But it'll take a while for me to realize it.
J: Oh, come on, Blair!
B: What?
J: Just say thank you.
B: Thanks. I'll call him later, but first what was it like? What'd you eat? What'd you talk about?
J: Well, first...

(Jo keeps talking as the credits roll.)

well, how was it? if it's a little choppy, sorry... but I haven't written a fanfic in years! well, months... weeks?
