Seahawks QB Josh Portis arrested for DUI Rodger Sherman, SBNation Posted: Monday, May 20, 2013, 3:43 PM Josh Portis, expected to compete for the Seattle Seahawks backup quarterback job, was arrested on suspicion of DUI earlier this month, and will face a court date after blood tests revealed a higher-than-legal limit. Portis was pulled over after allegedly speeding on May 5, and tested a blood alcohol level of .092 -- higher than Washington's limit of .08. The 25-year-old had just signed a two-year contract for $480,000 a year in April. Since his signing, the Seahawks had also brought in Brady Quinn and Jerrod Johnson to compete for spots on the team's depth chart behind Russell Wilson. Quinn has NFL starting experience with the Browns and the Chiefs, but Portis could have expected to fight Johnson -- who also has never played a down in the NFL, with experience as a backup -- for a third-string spot. When discussing his signing, SB Nation's Seahawks blog Field Gulls described Portis as "a very good fit as a backup to Russell Wilson - very mobile with a strong throwing arm" and noted he should an advantage on competition in a roster battle due to his experience with the team. But his legal trouble won't help as he tries to hang on to the squad. credit: philly.com |

Sad that I've never heard of him but even sadder is that this really doesn't surprise me. I don't mean anything against him or the team but it just seems that this sort of thing has been happening more and more often all over the sports and showbiz world. But I do love my Seahawks!
