Rolleyes One Million Moms' Says They Got "New Normal", "Apt. 23", "Cleveland Show" Canceled

OMM: We Got "New Normal" Cancelled
One Million Moms Leader Monica Cole, via email
Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Dear Joe,

Our persistence has paid off once again! "The New Normal" got the axe by NBC after the show’s first and only season! Another program we have worked to end, "Don't Trust the B---- in Apt 23", has also been canceled and will no longer air on ABC.

A number of other shows we have taken action on are set to be pulled, including "The Cleveland Show", "The Secret Life of the American Teenager" and "Green Lantern: The Animated Series".

We are still waiting for a decision on a few of the other programs we have voiced our concerns over. Many of those shows have a high probability of not being renewed, including "The Biggest Loser", "American Idol" and "Dancing With the Stars".

These 'in limbo' programs that we have spoken out on are on the verge of ending because the networks have not announced a pickup yet. One Million Moms continues to fight for the moral values that have served our country so well for so long. We do so without apology.

I didn't see any info on 'American Idol' and 'Dancing With The Stars' on their website. Weird choices.

Fox made the decision not to produce new episodes of The Cleveland Show over year ago but it's not even "officially" cancelled. They're taking credit for getting a bunch of low rated shows cancelled to get more donations from their one hundred (not one-million) members

Not a bad Idea. We need MORE SCRIPTED Family Friendly TV Shows. Get rid of all the Game, Reality, News and Talk Shows.

I have Leave it to Beaver on DVD. I also have an "Unofficial Release" of all but two episodes of Lassie (Thank You y23k joker ) I don't like using this method of acquiring series I desire to watch, but there's that age old adage, if there's a product a person desires, and whoever is in charge of that product refuses to provide it. (In this case Dreamworks/Classicmedia) There is no choice for the person who wants it to get it but to get it from "somewhere else"

American Idol is considerably racier than it used to be. Idol started with a TV-G rating, then went to TV-PG, and now it's TV-14.

And it's Nielson Ratings have done nothing but gone down, Down, Down !

I want to level with you. There was a time. 30 or so years ago, when I wanted to see what's all the fuss about "R" rated movies. (At this time I was still too young to see these kinds of movies (What Kid growing up DIDN'T Want to see these kinds of movies?) I then grew up and I got to see "What was the fuss all about"? Now that I'm older (and wiser), I now prefer to see "G" and 'PG" Movies over all the other kinds of Movies. As for the other kinds of movies, its a case of "Been There, Done That". With that behind me, now I can merrily go about my way.

There is no mystery for kids anymore though. They have seen way more on TV or online than I had by the time I was old enough to go to a "R" movie. These groups are entitled to their opinion and if that sways advertisers that is the advertiser's business to decide. The big issue is those shows (except like AI) did not draw ratings from the general population to justify the network keeping them. If they had they'd still be around. I want TV decided by the free market, let the viewers decide what airs. The networks are much more concerned with ratings and the money a show makes. I think TV is hastening their own demise with endless pop up ads, too many commercials, and shorter programs to the point where it is tough to develop a decent plot in around 20-22 minutes and have a decent resolution.

some people still want them cancelled though - they are just too "racy"

if these people are against "immoral" and racier shows they can change the channel - that is precisely why we have the TV ratings systems and V-chips and all of that other nonsense; people have a right to watch what they want to, no matter how much someone else doesn't like it.

- and for the record I would love to see all of those trashy reality shows, especially American Idol and Dancing with the "Stars" immediately cancelled.
