Senior prostitution ring busted in N.J. senior citizen housing complex

May 15, 2013 By: Jennifer Gangloff A senior prostitution ring in New Jersey has been busted after an elderly man used a senior citizen housing complex for sexual activities and drug use, NBC4 New York reported May 14. The senior prostitution ring was allegedly being run by James Parham, 75, along with Cheryl Chaney, 66, according to Englewood, N.J., police. Both suspects were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a nuisance. Chaney is also charged with possession of crack cocaine. In the senior prostitution ring, Parham allegedly ran the prostitution ring out of his apartment in a senior citizen housing complex and employed some elderly residents as sex workers. Police said that Parham ran the senior prostitution ring through his apartments and employed a mix of young women and older residents to offer sexual services. None of the alleged prostitutes in the senior prostitution ring has been arrested. Because of the senior prostitution ring, other senior citizens in the apartment complex were afraid to venture into certain areas, fearing for their lives, police said. Sexual activity and drug use took place in common areas, police said. Some speculate that a lack of security around the senior housing complex allowed the senior prostitution ring to operate more freely. |
