Eek Were the producers of this family matters perverted

Why in the world would the pruducers of family matters need to have some of the male characters on this show put themselves into humiliation for a lifetime by having them dress in a drag the guy that played carl dressed in a drag, the guy that played weasel dressed in a drag, the cop carls partner that that had a huge crush on rachel dressed in a drag, jaleel white steve urkel dressed in a drag, i wonder if they would have fired jaleel white if he refused to dress in a drag for the unfunny myrtle episodes during the course of the series.

Eddie wore a dress during the cold open of Steves first episode in season 1. Supposedly Jaleel was embarrassed playing Myrtle in season 2 and cried in his dressing room. The producers didn't ask him to play her again until season 7 when Jaleel was more comfortable playing a female. I doubt they would fire Jaleel, he was the shows cash cow. Him and Reginald are probably the only actors that weren't expendible.

I don't remember that scene at all. Why did Eddie wear a dress?

Well, Jaleel White didn't look like that many other black kids. And furthermore, few other kids would have been as good an actor as Jaleel.

Lol Rachel was hemming the dress for Harriette. Eddie was humiliated. Rachel went upstairs to get more pins and Eddie grabs a mirror to try to get a pin in the back of the dress. Carl, Laura, and Judy walk in and see Eddie with the mirror and are shocked. Carl tells Eddie they need to have a little talk.

No way. Like I said Jaleel and Reginald WERE the show. They would never be fired. Jaleel said in an interview once that the producers didn't like changing actors, that's why they never recasted Judy.

Why dident the producers i no they were not thinking the same thoughts we fans think its not easy writing a plot but wouden't it have been better to just write a episode where steve urkels 10 year old nerdy unpopular cousin has a huge major crush on judy, that way if steve's nerdy little cousin became a popular character they could have kept judy for all 9 seasons of family matters.

I don't think they were perverted. In fact, as far as I know, I've read that some of them are Christians. Characters in drag have been done on numerous sitcoms and played for laughs- I think that's all it was meant for. I don't think anything perverted was meant by it. I thought the Myrtle episodes were pretty funny too, but I can see how it would be pretty humiliating for Jaleel White to portray, especially at the age he was at the time.

I don't know why they didn't develop Judy more. She was a big part of season 1 and had a few sub plots in season 2, but then the producers gave up.

Judy did not have a nerdy male boy on family matters to keep on her the show for 8 or 9 seasons of the show, i am shocked that she stayed on the show for 4 seasons aka 4 years thats a long time, their was also a episode where they made the girl that played laura dress up like a thug boy to get some car lol

You think it was werird that Carl's and Harriette's daughter was on the show for four years? She should have been on the show all along!

Yeah she looks mature in season 4 but by this point she is quiet and is envy of richie all the time because he gets more attention then she does, the only way they could have had judy stay on for atleast 8 seasons is if she was a sidekick to laura instead of maxine also they would have to have steve and judy be more social, steve never gave a thought to have any crush interest in judy which was weird she was better looking then laura.

Judy was only jealous of Richie in one episode. There were other times they fought, but living together gave them a sibling like relationship. Judy was more prominent in season one and that was when she was with Laura in most of her scenes, so you're right they should've developed Judy and Laura's relationship more.I'm pretty sure Jaimee had a four season contract so they were obligated to keep her until then. When the producers and her mother were renegotiating her contract her mother's demand for more money resulted in her being fired. It's almost parallel to episode two, if Harriette hadn't asked her boss for a raise, she wouldn't have been fired as the elevator operator.
