Confused Don't disturb Jed while he's eatin'

Hi all,

I've joined specifically to see if someone can solve something that's been puzzling me as to whether or not it's a figment of my imagination.

Growing up watching The Beverly Hillbillies I'm sure Granny used to say the line "Don't disturb Jed while he's eatin' " quite often when she had served Jed a meal at the table, and someone like Jethro would ask him to do something as he tried to eat.

I now use this line on my kids. When they ask me to do something when I'm eating a meal I just point to myself and say "Jed", and they leave me be. It's great.

We've been watching the odd re-run of the show here, so they know who Jed & Granny are, but I've been searching the internet to find a video/sound clip of Granny saying this line and can't find it anywhere. Google has no results of the line either.

Can someone help me out with confirmation of Granny saying this, and if so, perhaps point me to a link where I can find it on the net?

Off hand I don't remember it but maybe someone else might know.
It sounds more like something they would say about Jethro.

The Beverlly Hillbillies used to do Kellogg's Cornflake commercials, it COULD have been from there.

But I remember a lot of stuff about the BH and other shows that I can't find anywhere now.

Such as... I remember once where Granny was going to spank Elle Mae in the kitchen once and Jed came in and stopped her. ~Promise my minds not in the gutter, I DO remember that scene.

And I remember an episode where they were in the front hall and each member of the family kept running into the room opposite the camera and running back out scared, something was in that room scaring them.

I've seen the show numerous times over the years and I have the first 2 seasons on DVD (and that AWFUL 1993 movie with Jim Varney I pretend never existed!! ) and I don't recall Granny ever saying that. Like someone else said; it sounds like something one of them would say about Jethro and not Jed.

the Clampetts are in a fancy Beverly Hills jewelry store. Granny points to a tray of rubies.

Granny: "How much fer one o' them red diamonds?"
clerk: "Madam, those are rubies."
Granny: "OK ask her kin we buy one offa her."
clerk: " The ruby I am talking about is not a lady."
Granny: "Lissen, how she got them diamonds is her business. I'm just sayin' ask her kin we buy one from her."

I sort of remember Granny saying that, but it was like "Don't disturb your uncle Jed while he is eatin'" so she must have said it to Jethro? I don't think it was said often, or like a catchphrase on the show. It may have just been one line of dialogue in one episode that just stuck out in your mind. I, too, remember bits of dialogue from the show when I watched as a kid. Just started watching the show again on ME-TV here in Los Angeles, and I am enjoying a lot of what I forgot from the show! So funny!

Yeah I think you're right.

Other than trawling through every show ever made I've resigned myself to not locating the clip.

Cheers
