Back in the '90s, I worked in an office that actually gave you a paid day off for your birthday. Honestly, I don't even care about my birthday. It's just another day to me, and I don't mind working on the day even if it is a Monday.

If you like to celebrate your birthday or just relax on your birthday, you should ask your boss if you can get a paid vacation day. My old job from the '90s just automatically gave you a free paid day off on your birthday. But I guess that's rare.

I just feel that getting up and turning off a alarm should never happen on your birthday. But I guess that is just me lol

I always worked on my birthday, and so did just about everyone else in the office. We had cake for the birthday guy or gal. I know my husband and my father always worked, and my husband owned the business. I think it's the adult thing to do. Sorry Solomon.

when I used to work back in the 80s and part of the 90s, I used to work on my birthday every year, and so did a lot of other people, no matter what day it was on.

My birthday is next week and I'm working. I don't mind working, I just hope nobody announces it over the loud speaker. "IF you see Sara be sure to wish her a Happy Birthday" I don't mind getting a happy birthday from coworkers but it's weird getting it from random customers.

I remember one year when I was working, they had a cake for me on my b'day. Then the next year; on my b'day no one even mentioned it!

I just thought your birthday meant

1. no alarm clocks
2. no being told what to do by supervisor
3. No traveling to work

It's your day to do whatever you want

I do. Unless I have something special planned and have requested a day off to spend it with friends, I go to work.

But why WORK on your special day? Wouldn't you want to do something else just for that one day?
