I just came across this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Jack...item27d29c9f8d I wonder if it's a Honeymooners episode that is not on the box set because it is lost. |

Thank you. It's a good thing that I did not bid on it.

Further proof that there are other copies "out there."

$616.00?
I stopped bidding @ $100.00. This pulled in more than "The Turkey". Was this more rare? |

It actually pulled in three times the amount "The Turkey" did. I don't understand it. Any JGS kinescope from the 50s is a rare find, but I wouldn't spend that much money for a sketch that's publicly available.

Maybe there is something else on there more valuable or someone from UCLA, Paley Center or the Gleason Estate bought it bevause they were missing some of it.

The collections held at The Paley Center and The UCLA Film & Television Archive are made up of footage that was donated to them. On top of that, they're both nonprofit organizations. The Gleason Estate may keep an eye on what's being sold on eBay, but I doubt they would spend that kind of money on footage that they likely already have in its entirety. I see nothing of value here. The winner is probably some rich Gleason fan that just really wanted it or didn't do any research on it.

The only reason for me to consider buying this is to have the entire Gleason Show in my collection, but without a projector it is pointless. I do have a friend who does 8mm/16mm transfers to DVD so that wouldn't have been a problem, but for over $600? Forget it ...
I hope that a TV collector purchased it and will transfer to disc and it will show up on the collectors market. Which, by the way, how many complete Jackie Gleason Shows from the 1950s are available and being traded collector to collector? |

This auction also goes right along with what Bill said earlier. I have never believed that Gleason's prints of the shows were the only ones ever made. Now, in many instances his original prints may have been the last surviving print of a certain episode, but kinescopes were produced not just for the different time zones but also small stations not connected to the network feed that would then air the shows at a later date. How many have survived is something that only God knows but I have a feeling more are out there than we know of. Recently a pristine color nitrate print of the lost MGM short "Hello Pop!" starring Ted Healy and His Stooges (Moe, Larry, Curly) was located in Australia. If that is found then there is a collector somewhere holding on to some real gems!!

I hope so too. I will keep you in mind for future Gleason/Honeymooners eBay wins. |

Years ago eBay did allow other eBayers to contact buyers. That is no longer an option. So now there is no way to contact them. Anyone know of another way?
