I’m sure a lot of ppl didn’t even like any of the psychics. I personally didn’t really care for the segments that involved psychics, but I did like the psychic who helped with the Sherry Everly case. The one psychic I am not too fond of is Sylvia Brown. I read that she made a “prediction” that Amanda Berry was dead(this was back in 04). She told her mother this and her mother died a yr later of heart failure.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/amanda-berr...ry?id=19126853 I am pretty sure the mother died of a broken heart… |

yes sylvia did the same thing to a boy's parents on the Montel show.then her agents tried to extract money from them,in order to 'reveal' more info about his 'death'. then he turned up alive and well sometime later.
she is a fraud and a fake if there ever was one. there are clips of her fraud on the forbidden site,or at least there used to be. |

I really don’t believe psychics. But I think the one thing they are good at, is reading body language. If they do indeed have a special talent, they shouldn’t be taking advantage of ppl by swindling them for money. I hope this Amanda Berry case finally ends Sylvia Brown’s “career” (if that’s what u want to call it) |

Unfortunately, Sylvia was also wrong about Shawn Hornbeck and is still going.
I feel bad for Amanda who will have to learn her mother was lied to by this bitch. |

I firmly believe there are people who are more in tune with the universe than other people. That being said, Sylvia Browne makes me stabby. I know plenty of people who have a very accurate gut, plenty of people who know things they shouldn't be able to know. None of them can control it. They just "know" stuff. Personally, I don't think it's supernatural, merely preternatural.
Sylvia Browne isn't in tune with the universe. She's in tune with milking tragic and getting cash for it. |

Have any of her "predictions" came true? I recall she told Holly Krewson's mom Gwen that Holly was alive and working as a stripper, when Holly was dead the whole time.

If this counts as psychic, Ann Correcelli and her mom Lisa Wilson are scum for scamming people of their life savings.

Good old dragon lady Sylvia Browne takes the cake for me...followed closely by huge phony James Van Prague.
My favorites? John Ketchings (mentioned already for the Sherry Eyerly case) and Dorothy Allison. FYI, if you want to read more about how wrong Sylvia Browne has been, this is a good (mostly inactive nowadays) source: http://stopsylvia.com/ |

I don't believe in pyschics, either.Just mentioning what sylvia did...that is just plain evil in itself.I don't think she really cares, either. It is all about $ to her.
That said,I don't beleive george anderson, either.but i don't see him as evil as sylvia is.just b/c you can attach wires to someone's head and give a 'reading' doesn't mean it's really from the other side.JMO though.I realize UM went to great lengths to make him seem legit, and some do beleive him. |

I don't necessarily disbelieve in psychics, and I think that there have been several on UM that were noteworthy in a good way, but I am in complete agreement that Sylvia Browne is definitely not one of them. Has she ever actually been known to have had any believable psychic powers, or is she simply a full-on scam artist who just says things for the hey of it?
Another one that I have trouble believing in is Katie the gold foil lady. Not sure how she managed to pull that off without something overwhelmingly exposing her on the spot, but I still think that there's something explainable about it, and if we ever were to learn the secret of it, it would probably turn out to be something surprisingly simple and mundane. Also, it strains her credibility considerably that her full name was never made public. Most psychics that have appeared on the show (even ones that aren't particularly believable) have had their names public on the show. As far as good psychics go, I'm in agreement with the poster who mentioned Dorothy Allison and John Catchings. I've also always thought that Dannion Brinkley, Nancy Myer, and the late Phil Harris were all down to earth and seemingly sincere. |

I do believe that certain people have very good intuition. A friend of my mother's did a "reading" for me, and it was scary accurate. She asked me to give me something of mine to hold so she could pull from it's energy. So I gave her my wedding band. She held it for maybe 30 seconds and said "this isn't yours"....and she was right. My wedding band was a ring my worse half bought in Mexico years before we tied the knot. There is no way she could have known that, it's not something I ever told anyone...because it was no big deal...I liked the ring, he gave it to me, the end...and I forgot all about it. I didn't even remember until she told me! Anyway, because of this, I brought her to the office one day to do readings for business associates. She told one woman that she sensed some danger in her stomach area, and told her to get it looked at. This woman had stomach cancer years earlier and had been successfully treated. Taking the advice, she went back to her doctor and the cancer had resurfaced. Again, there is no way she could have known this. Seriously, there is no way these two women had ever met before. It's not possible, they lived several house away. I didn't even know about the cancer situation until the lady came to me afterwards and told me about her reading. The lady from the office felt like the reading was being pulled from her, though, which leads me to believe more in intuition than "psychic".
Sylvia Brown is BAD. But, she did what I would do if I were trying to "pass" as a psychic....she picked the most likely odds and went with it. I don't know the exact stats, but I'm sure (sadly) that 80-90% of all missing people are dead, especially if they are children and it's not a family related abduction. So Sylvia just goes with the best odds, I think. She has hurt so many people, I can't believe anyone still listens to her! She's right up there with La Toya and her psychic network of friends, and Sly Stallone's mother. FAKE! |

I'll throw in another for Sylvia Brown. She's just a bad person. Period. (I'm a longtime fan of stopsylvia.com, by the way--rock on Apostapler for posting the link.)
I was never too big on Noreen Renier. I can't really put a finger on it, but I've always been put off by her for some reason. I did like John Catchings, and especially liked Dorothy Allison. |

John Catchings. I like any man that says "I knew that he knew that I knew that he was responsible for this."
Here's a fun factoid: Sylvia Brown was on a segment of That's Incredible! about a haunted Toys R Us store in California. A segment that frequently gets associated with UM. That being said, I'm dying to own this segment. @flytrapp: I think you might be thinking of Dionne Warwick. She did commercials for the psychic friends network for years, not La Toya Jackson. |

I love psychics. Sham or not, they always make things interesting and way more entertinaing on an UM segment! That is not to say they don't go too far. Noreen Renier is a hoot! Sylvia Browne is entertaining. Dorothy Allison is fun to listen to but John Catchings is kind of a snooze!
Personally, I would love to visit a psychic. I would volunteer very little! |
