Thumbs down "Family Tools" Premiere Was ABC's Lowest-Rated Comedy Debut Ever

"Family Tools" Can't Fix ABC Comedy Hole
by James Hibberd
May 2 2013

Another lackluster broadcast series premiere last night: Goofy freshman sitcom "Family Tools" had a weak debut Wednesday evening on ABC.

"Tools" was ABC’s lowest-rated comedy debut ever and down 12 percent from the "Neighbors" average in this slot. Though at least fellow newcomer "How to Live With Your Parents" leaped 47 percent thanks to gaining an original "Modern Family" lead-in.

it didn't look very interesting to me, and although I like Leah Remini i can't stand that Kyle Bornheimer guy and I don't think I could watch him in another sitcom.

I stated in another thread here that JK Simmons has moved on to another show in the fall, and now the network is burning off these episodes at the end of the season.

My review on it is pretty negative. Good side, JK Simmons is good in anything, even crap. He's good in this! It is also good to see Leah Remini out there, although this show made her look old and frumpy. This girl needs another run at a good series! Well what she needs is to be deprogrammed from Scientology. But that is not here nor there.

Negatives, The guy who plays the son is annoying, and the kid who plays Leah Remini's character's son needs to be shipped off and forgotten about. The brother and sister were also bad and....just bad (although the sister is attractive). Then there is Adam Arkin as some recurring side character? Damn, Arkin, you have been an actor for how many decades to take a bit role in a bad ABC sitcom?

This is one of those shows I call "Could be good if........" types. Not a bad idea for a show, keep Simmons and Remini, and dump the rest of the cast, have Simmons and Remini run the hardware store and have daffy, stereotypical sitcom like side characters come in and out.

(Warning, if you do not like depiction of pain, please do not read on....)

The stupid main character couldn't even act pain. When he shot himself with the nail gun through his foot on that wood deck, he yelped and then grimiced some. Now, I have stepped on two nails in my life, the second one a big fat construction nail that went through the ball of my foot. That is the worst freaking pain of all time. Honestly, I do not think getting shot would hurt that much more. Dude cannot even act hurt. Youre cancelled dude.

Like I said, I think this show is dead man walking.

The Neighbors is freaking awful, or at least the pilot episode and the next episode. Haven't seen an episode since and thought for sure it would have been dead before Christmas and it is still here.

I watched it because of Leah Remini. Unfunny.

Oh No

I smell a show that's going to end before it began.

Crazy

My parents and I tried watching this. We changed the channel after about 10 minutes.

J.K. Simmons deserves better.
