Default Colorized version of "LA At Last":

I heard that the I Love Lucy episode: "LA At Last" was colorized. I may be interested in it. If anybody has it, they can PM me.

I saw it years ago at a Burbank convention. There was only one known copy at the time and the film has reportedly been lost. It's too bad because the colorization was excellent.

They need to colorize the whole series. I'd buy it.

Default Who actually colorized Lucy in "LA at Last"?

And it is physically lost? Or just not available?

I'd love to see it too.

Maybe they could put it out just as a single episode like the Munsters did with "Family Portrait" episode.

From what I read, Gregg Oppenheimer has it on a VHS videocassette tape. I heard that the doesn't think fans would be interested in it because it's a copy of a copy, and not a first generation copy, or from the original master. I think it was supposed to be an extra on one of the "Lucy" DVDs, but, again, Gregg didn't feel that fans would be interested, due to the picture quality.

I'm curious to know if anybody viewed it at the "Loving Lucy" convention it was screened at. I want to know what colors the opening & closing credits were. Were they the same color as the Episode Title Cards & Air Dates on the "I Love Lucy" DVDs, the colorized "Christmas Special" or the ones from the colorized "Lucy Goes to Scotland" & "Lucy's Italian Movie" episodes. I also was curious if the Ricardo's Beverly Palms Hotel Suite was identical to the one that, and if it came close to the colors of the set that was recreated for the "I Love Lucy" 50th Anniversary Tour, and is now on display in Jamestown, New York.

I wonder who colorized it? I wonder if was the same people who colorized the "I Love Lucy" Christmas Show, or the ones who colorized the "Lucy Goes to Scotland" & "Lucy's Italian Movie" episodes. I wish they would colorize every single episode, especially now that they have reference photos and/or videos of sets, props, scenery and wardrobe. I'm a stickler for detail.

Yes, I viewed it at the convention, but it was so long ago I don't remember anything about the colors of the opening. It's good to know Gregg has a copy, but a shame the original is gone. What we saw at the convention was in perfect condition.

As for colorizing the entire series, there were plans to do that back in the mid '80s -- both I Love Lucy and The Dick Van Dyke Show. I guess it was decided the cost would be too high, or the shows were doing well enough without being colorized. Maybe one day, assuming the technology becomes simpler and less costly.

Now should be the time to get cracking on this project & colorize these wonderful episodes! CBS/Paramount just announced that The Honeymooners is coming to Bluray in October! Just imagine if I Love Lucy also comes to Bluray and the Bonus is getting to watch every single episode in color too! A whole new generation would discover Lucy Ricardo & friends! CBS/Paramount take notice and give the fans what they want!

At a Lucy Fest Luncheon with Greg Oppenheimer today, a question was asked about colorizing I Love Lucy for Blu-Ray..... he said there were already three episodes colorized..... Lucy in Scotland, The Christmas Show, and The Italian Movie.... we are puzzled when he said 'Italian Movie' as I knew this hadn't been released and we were asking him where can we get this... he said its going to be released this November in an upcoming blu-ray colorized set.........

He also mentioned a recolorization of the Christmas show to fix the mistake in 1989 colorization. It appears these three episodes will be released together.

Default more Lucy colorized?

Thanks for the update.

I'm glad we'll have more Lucy colorized.

Lucy’s Italian Movie with the classic bit where she's grape stomping was previously released as a bonus disc on Time Life set.

There's also a colorized BW skit from a Victor Borge pilot where Lucy is an airplane passenger making Gale Gordon nuts

So I take it that Greg never mentioned specifically the episode we're all waiting for. LA at Last?

I know the Christmas Show is going to be an updated colorization, but will the flashbacks be colorized as well, or just the wraparound segments/scenes?

Default Colorized for Kids of All Ages Lucy announcement

I Love Lucy - CBS DVD Announces a Release of 'The I Love Lucy Christmas Special'
3-episode collection on a single disc, with both colorized and original B&W versions of each
Posted by David Lambert
8/05/2013

HO! HO! HO! HA! HA! HA! Lucy's always been one of, if not the, funniest and most colorful characters in the history of TV. Now you and your family can own three I Love Lucy episodes in both colorized and their original Black & White versions.
CBS DVD has today scheduled a November 5th release for I Love Lucy - The I Love Lucy Christmas Special. Stating on the early cover art (shown below; may not be finalized yet and could be subject to change) that this is "Colorized for Kids of All Ages," the DVD sports both colorized and original black-and-white versions of 3 episodes: "Lucy Christmas Special," "Lucy Goes to Scotland" and "Lucy's Italian Movie." This is ahead of an airing on December 20th by the CBS network for the colorized versions of the first and third items on this DVD.

On another I Love Lucy note, we continue to get e-mails from readers pointing out that there are rumors - and a pair of VERY well-known names associated with Lucy DVDs keep getting mentioned, although we won't repeat them here - that the show is being remastered for Blu-ray Disc format. The only thing we can pass on for now is that nothing has been announced by the studio. If we get something we can pass along, we will, so stay tuned and we'll see if the gossip holds up! in the meantime, enjoy the holiday DVD available this autumn!
