A fellow Gilligan’s Island fan asked "how many actresses had the part of Ginger?"

I said a dozen.

He challenged me to name them.

I was pretty confident I could name all 12.

In the pilot, Ginger was a sassy secretary played by Kit Smythe.

Then the role of Ginger was changed to a sexy movie star and the part was Jayne Mansfield’s.

But Jayne said no. Then, in both Rescue from Gilligan's Island and The Castaways on Gilligan’s Island, Ginger was Judith Baldwin.

In The Harlem Globetrotters on Gilligan's Island; Constance Forslund,.

In Surviiving Gilligan’s Island, Kristen Dalton.

In the animated New Adventures of Gilligan, Jane Webb (who oddly enough, also had stage name Joanne Louise. Gee, that last name seems familiar.).

In Gilligan's Planet, Dawn Wells. I think she also had some other connection to Gilligan’s Island.

In 2004 Real Gilligan’s Island, Ginger was played by Nicole Eggert and Rachel Hunter.

In 2005 Real Gilligan’s Island, Erika Eleniak and Angie Everhart.

I named eleven Gingers. Then I went blank.

Who am I leaving out?

I have no doubt that leaving out Tina Louise was totally intentional on your part. No diehard fan of G.I. is going to name all 12 (some so-called) actresses who played or had the part of Ginger and forget to name Tina. Also, what's the point of asking a trivia question and then provide the answers yourself? I could understand your doing this if sufficient time had passed without a reply but 4 minutes is ridiculous.

But ... but Jayne Mansfield never actually took the part, so I'm not sure how we can count her. She never "was" Ginger.

I thought about that also but the wording used was "had the part" so I think it would count even though she turned it down.

I had THAT thought before I posted my other comment, but I went back and saw that the title of the thread says "played."

Although we can make a case against all the Real Gilligan's Island women, too...

I'm glad you caught my wordplay. Jayne Mansfield may have "had the part" of Ginger.
But of course she was never Ginger.

I don't suppose Miss Mansfield even made any test footage or we would've seen it as a DVD extra.

But even if we drop Jayne, eleven actresses played Ginger.

Even if we drop the Real Gilligan's Island, seven actresses played Ginger.

Here's a trivia to fool your friends.

What are there more of, actresses who played Ginger on TV or actors who played James Bond in the movies?

Ginger is at least a tie because seven actors played Bond in the movies.

"In the movies" is a weasel phrase because one played him on TV.

The Bond actors are

3. David Niven in the 1967 spoof of Casino Royale
