That's too bad, if they haven't figured it out during the last 7 years it could be anything. Hopefuly they find the cause of his problem so they can correct it.

As strange as it might sound, the cause could be Arthritis or some other form of joint inflammation. Many years ago, my Granddad began having TIAs (Transit Ischemic Attacks) often referred to as mini-strokes; they would only last about a minute or two and left no permanent damage. He had a complete physical and they found nothing wrong with him; even his carotid artery was completely clear. They later discovered that when his Arthritis would flare up and the joints in his shoulder would become inflamed it created pressure on the flow of blood and cause a TIA. He began taking medication to reduce the inflammation and it helped. Perhaps DVD is suffering from a similar condition. Considering all of the physical comedy and dancing over the years, perhaps some of his joints (maybe at the base of his skull) have been jarred or enlarged to the point that when he lies down, it’s begun to cause a slight blocking of the flow of blood just enough to create the banging effect.
His condition may also be this: 2) What are the symptoms of hypopituitarism? Because the pituitary may not be sending adequate levels of TSH and or ACTH, you could feel fatigue, weakness, have low blood pressure, feel colder than normal, have a decrease in your appetite, headaches, and depression. Symptoms of hypopit (concerning low TSH, low ACTH, low LH and FSH) are the same as if thyroid-adrenals-gonads are the cause. In most cases you can’t tell by symptoms if you may be hypopituitary or not. If you aren’t getting enough ACTH, you could have symptoms of weight loss and nausea, plus the fatigue, low blood pressure, weakness, and depression. Because of a deficiency of TSH and LH, women could lose their periods, or have problems conceiving. Men could have a decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and loss of facial hair. If hypopituitary occurs in childhood, the result can be a short stature. Thirst and increased need to urinate can occur is you have an ADH deficiency. (Note: a large body of hypothyroid patients have a “low normal” TSH without hypopituitarism. Why? Because the man-made TSH lab is often slow to reveal the hypothyroid state. Those with hypopituitarism will often have a TSH at 0.8 and lower for women, and 1.8 and lower for men, with accompanying hypo symptoms. See #5 and 6 below.) BTW, I don’t use twitter, so perhaps someone could pass this theory along to him. |

Dick Van Dyke Discovers Cause of Mystery Illness
May 31, 2013 by Kate Stanhope Dick Van Dyke has cracked the case! The Hollywood vet tweeted Thursday that his headaches have been caused by his titanium dental implants. "Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks for all your replies," he wrote. Van Dyke, 87, first revealed he was under the weather — and without a diagnosis — in April. At the time, he was forced to cancel a New York event, citing "fatigue and lack of sleep resulting from symptoms of a yet-to-be diagnosed neurological disorder." He tweeted about his pain and shared his long struggle to find out what was behind it. "My head bangs every time I lay down. I've had every test come back that I'm perfectly healthy. Anybody got any ideas," he asked. "It has been going on for 7 years. I've had every test you can think of, including an MRI and spinal tap." http://www.tvguide.com/News/Dick-Van...e-1066189.aspx |
