Ha ha, I'd like to share this interesting story with you.
Ok, picture it, Indiana, 1990. A young woman is in labor with her first child. She is given an epidural to numb the pain. Her husband is also next to her the whole time. During the whole ordeal, a new song comes on the radio. It was Wilson Phillips' "Hold On". It was the hit song that week and played constantly the whole day. The epidural wears off after 3 hours into labor and the pain returns. The song keeps playing on every radio station, and the young woman is tired of hearing it while she's trying to deal with the pain and delivering the baby, so the radio is turned off. 26 hours after going into labor, the woman delivers a healthy baby boy. That baby boy...was me. My mom ended up hating that song ever since. It was the second thing she remembered that day, next to me being born. She didn't hate it because of me, but because of it constantly being played and the lines "hold on for one more day" and "I know that there is pain but you hold on for one more day and break free from the chains" being instilled in her head. Not something a woman wants to hear during childbirth I'm sure. |
