Yeah, I think I have to choose Steve as well. He had more personality.

Yeah steve was annoying guy but the whole show revolved around him, mark foster was not the center on the show on step by step.

Yeah, Steve should have gotten over his stupid crush on Laura. Drooling like that over someone, who needs a decade to even upgrade you to being her friend, is insane. And then, they had the nerve to have him dump Myra for her.

As for coming in uninvited, yeah, that was a bit wrong. But the Winslows still ended up liking Steve more than what his own parents did. And he couldn't help that he was clumpsy, or even that his inventions often malfunctioned.

You dont think a person like Steve was annoying or a creep he was harassing and chasing a girl that wanted nothing to do with him not only that but he had to suffer abuse and humiliation from laura for almost a decade 1989-1998, not only that but he messed up laura's dating life because of him she could never keep a boyfriend every other episode their was a new guy on family matters and everytime steve would try to scare them away or try to fight them lol

But Laura was Steve's true love- I don't think it was a stupid crush. He protected her honor numerous times. Yeah, obviously there are a lot of things unrealistic with it- like how he repeatedly ignored her very clear indications that she was not interested in him and never would be- and yes, that is a place he should back off.
But it's a sitcom and such shows are not generally meant to be realistic- it was funny and many times sweet. I love Family Matters.
And for the record, I like both Mark Foster's character on Step By Step (another great TGIF show) and Steve Urkel on Family Matters.

I agree Furienna

Steve was wrong for hurting myra's feelings like that by still having a secret crush on laura who was mean to him for no reason steve was even bold enough to cheat on myra while she was in the bathroom he asked laura out on a date with him lol, but when he turned into that smooth talker guy stefan she was ready to marry him in a heartbeat lol

Steve's crush on Laura was anything but secret. And Myra was a bit insanely obsessed.

The stupid writers of the show wanted us to think that Laura was Steve's "true love", and that her finally dating him in the last season was a happy ending. But to me, the whole thing just came around as phony and forced. Steve and Laura had developed a good dymanic as friends, but they were totally wrong for each other.

There were a couple of seasons after Steve agreed to go steady with Myra, where he was a bit more secretive about what he felt about Laura, at least when Myra was around. And as for Myra being insanely obsessed, well, that was only the stupid writers coming across with their Steve/Laura bias again. They tried to turn Myra into a crazy stalker, so we wouldn't have any sympathy for her. But I still do.

I didn't mean to say I don't have sympathy for Myra. But she was pretty insanely obsessed with Steve, to the point where it became quite stalker-ish.

I respect your opinion and right to it, but I'm just going to have to respectfully disagree with you on that one. Maybe it did come off as phony and forced- but I guess since I tend to side with the underdog, I was happy to see it. It's nice to see the nerd end up with the girl for once- something that a show like "The Big Bang Theory" has been able to do with Penny and Leonard to some degree.
