this baffles me the most. In the eric tamiyasu(not sure if spelled right) why did they burn the bed? I will never understand that

One reason is it was covered in human juices, no one was ever going to use it again and you don't want to store it or leave it lying around.

I know people like to criticize Sheriff Wampler for burning the bed, but if it did in fact have pieces of Eric's decomposed body on it, and since his death was originally thought to have been "unintended", I can see why he would order the bed being burned. I'm sure he didn't want Eric's family to see the bed in that condition.

Yeah, at the risk of being really gross, you can't get dead guy smell out of a mattress. It was a large item, hard to store, I'm sure it smell and looked horrible and it was a biohazard. In hindsight, it was a terrible choice, but at the moment, it probably seemed quite logical.
