Default Sohus memorial

Now that Christian Gerhartsreiter's trial is over and his sentencing beginning in June, I have permission from a close friend of John and Linda to give the following information.

A memorial is being held in or around San Marino sometime in late June this year and the friend has asked if anyone in that area and in Pasadena, California who knew John and Linda or at least wondered what happened to them, to attend the memorial to pay their respects. That is all I have at this time.

I'm kind of shocked you would have the balls to make a statement like that. You have a tendency to start new threads on subjects that have one or several lengthy threads on them already, and then whine and criticize the forum when nobody responds to them. Maybe people didn't have anything to add, or maybe they just didn't want to make a "me too" post. And while the Sohus case is undoubtedly important, I wouldn't necessarily call it one of the most prominent. It seems like there was some semi-recent hubbub about the case due to the capture of Chichester, but before that it wasn't one of the most talked about cases on here.

Whoa, hey now, I didn't mean to strike a nerve. I am not angry/upset or directing anything at anybody. I am just trying to help out a person who kindly gave me permission to inform us about this memorial. I'm sorry if I sounded a little impatient but I just don't want people to skim over it like it's not important, because it's highly important to the person who's been without their friend for 28 years and needs closure.

I truly believe not one single person who posts regularly on this board just "skims over" cases "like they're not important." I'm not really sure what you were expecting from others here. We have multiple, lengthy threads on the Sohuses. That didn't come about from people who feel the case isn't important. Some of these threads are TWELVE YEARS long.

To be honest, the repeated sentiments on how "no one seems to care" and "I can't believe no one has commented on this" have worn thin on me too. What are you really annoyed with: the fact that posters don't have anything to immediately offer or add, or that your thread doesn't have the amount of posts you think it should?

It's evident to me you care about these cases. So do we. I'm certain no one who's been here for the length of time many of us have appreciate the insinuations that we don't.

Also, you posted this on a Friday and were shocked no one responded by Monday morning. During what is possibly the most insane news cycle we've had in this country in 12 years.

If we didn't care, we wouldn't be here. Perhaps we just have other things going on and cannot comment on every new thread you start. Oh, and by the way, this is about the Sohuses (Sohi? my brain wants to Latin pluralize everything that ends in -us)... not how many people comment on a thread and it's reflection on your sense of self importance.

I'm quite upset that this has turned into an argument. Perhaps this wasn't the right time to let everyone here know about the memorial. I'm sorry if I took offense to no one posting since I made this, it just seemed urgent to let everyone know.

This thread currently has 145 page views, I'm not sure if that translates to 145 different members have clicked the link or if it counts the members that may have read it more than once but at least you've had some interest in your thread. IMO, making comments about not having any comments is almost certain to get you no comments. (I hope that makes sense. )

Makes sense. Also to the one who said "self-importance", it's not only important to me, it's important to the friend who told me about it and the Sohus family. No need to read in between the lines.
