Lost Romeo

Rainbow in the sky, shinning through my eye.
Oh, my! What I see, I find it hard to believe.
If it wasn’t the boy across the street,
with pearl-like eyes looking right at me!

As he ran through a red light,
he made the evening sky seem bright.
At that moment, I felt a delight,
and all of me got real uptight.

Whether to call out, or to scream; I did not know.
My brain resembled a yo-yo.
Was he was a friend or foe?
I did not care; he was my Romeo.

I’ve seen and known him all my life.
However, he remained stabbing like a knife.
We must become husband and wife!
I’ve forgotten the possibilities of strife.

I went over to talk.
Almost tripping on the sidewalk,
I saw Nancy McKawk.
She kisses him and says “Heya, sweetheart!” in her girl talk.

With that, I ran
as fast as my feet possibly can.
I had no other plan,
but to hide behind the nearby van.

The thoughts I’ve had, I wanted to erase.
For thinking of it was a disgrace.
I couldn’t see them face-to-face.
So when I left, I ran again, just in case.

My room seemed extraordinarily cold.
The tears I’ve shed resembled a blindfold.
My body was in control,
My feelings weren’t, though.

I waited for my life to unroll,
but I was down in the dumps, the mud hole.
The dampness was my remote control.
I was hurt in heart and soul.

I have lost my Romeo.
