Angry My bank is so horrible!

I ordered a replacement debit card on April 5th, and I was told that it would arrive in 7-10 business days. I figured that it should be arriving anyday now, since not including Ssturday and Sunday makes it 7 days. I called my bank to ask what day I could expect to get my card in the mail, only to be told the shocking and disturbing news that it was just processed today, 7 business days later, and was told I had to wait another 7-10 business days. I was livid. My temporary card does not let me overdraft, while the card that should have come in the mail would have overdraft protection on it, which I need desperately after finding out scammers stole refund money from me. I should not have to wait another 7-10 days for a card that should have been in my mailbox already or very close to it.

I completely understand, in a way -- that's definitely a fail on the bank's part if they tell you that you'll have your card in the mail within 7-10 business days... only to call and find out that they never even processed your request!

My CU decided to get all funny with their customers back in mid-2011. They switched card companies -- that is, the ones who produce the cards for my bank. This was during August and September of 2011. They sent out letters, posted announcements online, etc that the existing cards (at that time) would cease to work after a certain date and that our new cards would be arriving in the mail well before that date. But that information definitely was NOT accurate, and I imagine that got them a lot of pissed off customers during that time.

It so happened that I was going on a trip to NYC during the time that this was happening, so I was really annoyed about the prospect of my card not working while I was there. So -- I ended up getting a prepaid card through them and using that on that trip. Come to find out - after I got home - that I could have used my original card all along! My new card came while I was in NYC and I took all the appropriate steps to activate it, but it wasn't truly activated until the date that the switchover had finally completed... Because of all that ****ery going on with switching card companies. I went to the bank one day the week I got back from NYC, and another customer actually came in with the same questions about her new card while I was there, asking about it!

If all this went over your head... Sorry!! It was confusing and maddening for me at that time.

You've missed the point entirely. What she was told to expect and what actually happened were 2 different things -- and an unwelcome, unnecessary inconvenience.

Anyway, in my opinion it's no longer practical anymore to carry a lot of cash. (And without cards you will need a lot of it if you drive a car ($$$$ at the gas pump) or actually, you know, want to eat to live.)

Ever heard of a business doing what they've promised to do? Those are the ones that are a little harder to find.

Thank you. It's the matter of principle. It should have been processed when they said it was going to be processed....
