Hi, I'm looking for the clip of Teddy Bergeron doing standup on Carson for the first time and being called over to the couch. Legend has it he was the first comedian to be called over after a set.
I'm not a collector and don't have anything to trade, but I'm a huge standup fan and it would make my day if anyone can share that clip. Thanks. |

I was watching the Reverse Image Show on the official David Letterman channel. Teddy Bergeron was one of the Late Night with David Letterman guests on February 22, 1984.
I read in the comments that he had died. Bill Burr and Marc Maron had sent tweets out on March 9. He was a Boston stand-up legend. He appeared in two Cheers episodes in 1982. His first appearance on Carson was on September 13, 1983. He wasn't the first comedian called over to the couch, although it was very rare and a great honor. A Vulture article mentions Jerry Seinfeld and Garry Shandling being called over in 1981. Freddie Prinze was called over after his first appearance on December 6, 1973. You could put in a request on the official Johnny Carson YouTube channel if you are still looking for it. Maybe they could upload it as a tribute. |
