"Mad Men" Ratings: Season 6 Premieres To 3.4 Million Viewers

The "Mad Men" ratings are in!

According to AMC, 3.4 million people tuned in to watch the "Mad Men" Season 6 premiere, which is down slightly from the Season 5 premiere that had 3.5 million.

"Mad Men's" Season 6 debut had 1.4 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic and 1.7 million viewers in the 25-54 demo. The number is sure to go up when DVR viewership is factored in.





"'Mad Men' has returned for a sixth season, and so has its passionate audience, the most upscale audience for drama on television. At a time when viewers have a variety of options in terms of how to watch their favorite shows, 'Mad Men' continues to drive an engaged audience to the live, water cooler event," Charlie Collier, president of AMC, said in a statement.

"This is a true testament to the power of this iconic series. Matthew Weiner and his remarkable writers, cast and crew have again delivered brilliant, distinctive television, and we are as excited as our viewers for another season."





This is the first season premiere of "Mad Men" that has not grown in the ratings, but the 3.5 million viewers for the Season 5 premiere was a series high for the show.

Fans waited about a year and a half for Season 5 when creator Matt Weiner and AMC struggled to settle contract negotiations.

The Season 6 premiere however, is up from the "Mad Men" Season 5 finale, which had 2.7 million viewers on AMC.





Since its debut on AMC, "Mad Men" has steadily grown, thanks in part to AMC's reruns and the show's availability on Netflix.

However, they're nowhere near the record-shattering numbers AMC's "The Walking Dead" pulls in.

They're only starting their 6th season? Maybe it's just me, but it feel like it's been on a lot longer than that (in a good way).
