Default Lisa Whelchel - the new Jane Fonda?

Did anyone else receive Lisa's e-newsletter today?

Here is an interesting part of the email:

Quote:
Actually, I do have one cool thing to report. I am going to create and film a workout DVD with one of my oldest and dearest friends. Janice is a correctional exercise specialist and personal trainer and we met each other over 25 years ago when we taught Sunday School together. The working title for the project is "Everyday Workout for the Everyday Woman." Our desire is to create and film a workout DVD for the woman who is not looking to have killer abs and rock-hard glutes but is simply wanting to look and feel a bit healthier.

I've invited a couple of my other friends who look more like the everyday woman, as opposed to most of the "hot/hard bodies" we see on the magazine covers and fitness DVDs. And, although, I lost seven pounds while on "Survivor," within ten days of returning home, I gained that all back plus an additional seven. But, I'm not going to fret and starve myself to lose that weight. My heart is to film a DVD where women don't feel worse about themselves by looking at the bodies on the screen. I want women to feel good about doing something for their heath. As a bonus, they will look leaner, feel better and move about life with more ease, flexibility and confidence.
I wonder how this will shape up (pun intended, FYI).

Lightbulb

Build muscle, burn fat. To build muscle is to process food better so it doesn't get turned to fat.

But I'm a guy bodybuilder, and what do I know.

Lol, poor babies...here you go...

Oh my goodness, has it really been over two months since I last wrote to you (In reality, it's been almost three, but "over two" makes me feel less terrible.) Good thing I didn't make it a New Year's resolution to write every month. Actually, I think that was my resolution when I started up again last August. But, breaking an "August resolution" feels less terrible than breaking an official "New Year's" one.

Honestly, though, you haven't missed much. I haven't had much to report. I have been speaking on the weekends. I love that because I get to meet many of you personally. As a matter of fact, in the next few weeks, I'll be speaking in Louisville, Birmingham, Oklahoma City, Gardner, MA and Midland, GA. If you live near any of these cities, get the details and come see me. I would love that!

We are in the envisioning and writing stages now. I would love your input. Tell me what you would like to see in a workout DVD. Anything you've always wished were available? What length of workout routine would most appeal to you? Do you own dumb bells? Should we include a resistance band in the package? What would make you pick this DVD up off the shelf and buy it? What would the cover look like? What would the text say? Can you think of a better title?

Part of our goal is to help women learn proper form so they don't injure/re-injure themselves. So many of us (of a certain age) are struggling with lower back issues, knee pain, shoulder and neck strains. This not only prevents us from working out but it often limits our enjoyment of life. Janice is really passionate about teaching women how to move correctly even in the everyday activities of life in order to live pain-free. How in the world can we market that goal? Any suggestions? Does that even sound appealing?

No need to respond to this email unless you want to, but if you do have advice or suggestions I would certainly welcome the input. I want this to be something that really helps women like me who don't particularly love working out but do want to look and feel better.

As Spring begins to thaw the snow and warm our hearts, I pray for fresh blossoms and new growth in your lives. I am writing this on the day after Easter and the hope of resurrection is still a possibility for all of us. I'm not saying that any of us would choose the death, loss, grief and unanswered questions that sometimes invade our lives but I am saying that it is in the very nature of things that what follows is new life. The sun does come out again. April follows January.. The green does poke through the brown. After Good Friday comes Easter Sunday. The empty spaces feel less like a black hole. If it is still winter in an area of your life, allow me to encourage you...I can see the sun shining for you. It may still be on the other side of a big hill, but it is rising. It is rising, indeed.

With a big smile and a bigger hug,

Lisa
